Bought a nexus 7 on flipkart this week using the cyber sale. 8999 and I made sure my bill crossed 10k for that extra 15% discount
So the effective price of 7650 sounded like a steal to me
Upgraded to 4.3 automatically and loving the lag free experience now

Congratulations.
The nexus 7 at the current discounts is an incredible offer. If I was in the market for a tablet right now, I'd take a serious look at the Nexus7 and this is coming from an Apple fan and iPad user.
Android tablets are still a little rough around the edges but unless you're deep into the Apple ecosystem, Android should work for most people.

In my case it was mostly a portable video player in the car and games for the toddler. So nexus 7 with 4.3 is one of the very few tablets costing so low and having such latest OS flavor.
Other advantage is that i have paid for Apps on google store which i could download on tablet as well.
Any suggestions for a tab under 5k? I need to gift it to a 9yr old.
As long as it plays you-tube videos and games like angry bird/temple run, it should be ok.

So last years Nexus 10 has been listed on the play store in India. 16gb for 29,999 and 32gb for slightly higher, trying to clear stocks for the latest generation but a good buy nonetheless.
What is a good tablet with 3G + calling facility? I would NOT prefer a Micromax or a Karbon. I currently have a BSNL Penta IS701C; but it does NOT play flash (Operating System - ICS) neither has calling facility. Also the TATA Photon+ dongle which I have is NOT compatible.
So all these are requirements
1. Compatibility with ANY dongle
2. 3G
3. Calling facility
4. Jelly bean

If the Tablet supports 3G Sim, then you wont require the dongle anymore. pop out the SIM from dongle and insert into the tablet directly !!
If budget is not an issue, Samsung Tab 3 8 inch looks very good. Though it doesnt have the s-pen and note functionality, but it still has some very good features.
Tab 3 7 incher is strictly OK ish (they have downgraded the CPU, screen resolution and the software features as well)
Nexus 7 with 3G is another option you can consider.

I don't think I can remove the sim from Photon+.
How about the prices of the models that you have mentioned?

Tab3 8 incher with 3G costs around 24K
wifi only Tab3 should cost 20K
Nexus 7 with 3G around 15-16K
Same with Tab 3 7 inch
Other option is to go for wifi only tablet and do tethering from your 3G mobile.
Frankly i have not heard of any branded tablet supporting 3G dongles(intentional isnt it !!)
i have a wifi only nexus and i have tried OTG cable with my pendrive and it is workig. But for me to stream data from my dongle(I got airtel LTE) i require airtel driver and software to run on my tablet. So unless your tablet has that supporting driver, you cant connect the dongle.
Thanks for the prices and suggestions.

In the BSNL Penta website, they have mentioned the dongle models which are compatible with the device. Mine is unfortunately on the other side.

So this make be believe that there are dongles which are compatible; but until and unless we successfully connect, we can only hope / assume.
Not finding a dedicated iPad thread, I had posted this query on the iPhone thread by error.
I've been using my Ipad 2 for the past couple of years. I've used it for browsing, net transactions, music etc but the bulk of my use has been for reading. I've got 3 different reader apps (Goodreader, Kindle and ibooks) which pretty much cover all formats.
I wonder if any of you would know whether it is possible to lock or hide an app or a folder on the Ipad (and no temporary solutions please)? If I wanted to password protect or hide my Goodreader app, is it possible?

Move it inside a Group which you don't normally use. Out of sight, out of mind!
Thank you! But as I suspected, no password protection for folders or apps, right?

iOS doesn't follow the principles of desktops / laptops - it is meant to be a personal (1 person) device, and hence doesn't have another layer of security built on storage.
iOS doesn't have a concept of Folders - anything in storage has to be associated with an App that can handle it. In reality, since iOS has a Unix chassis and drivetrain, it *does* have physical folders to organize storage. BUT, the Folder paradigm is not made visible in the UI layer. User doesn't "create files", but "stores data within an App". The App has a designated folder to store the data.
As far as App Groups are concerned, they are a convenient way of showing a Groups as a collection of App icons. It has nothing to do with Folders. Each App still retains its uniqueness at the storage level.
