1. Can we add something like MS office in the tab? Any application for that in play store?

Download "Google Drive".

2. Will this tablet be able to use something like a Tata photon usb device? Or will they work only with WIFI?

You can, but that requires some work to set it up + one cable.

Guys,

I am helping a friend source a Microsoft Surface 2. In US 32GB is available at $449 + taxes. Has it launched in India? Or getting it from US is the only means?

What about the earlier variant of Surface?

His specific requirement is MS Tablet. So all others from Apple and Droid are out of question.

Regards,

Why not a Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows Tablet?

Regards,

Getting from US is the only way out, thankfully, as we dont have to deal with this product. Please advise your friend that Surface 2 runs only RT, which does not run legacy apps. Please be very careful here.

If you want to run legacy apps (x86 programs), he must buy a Surface Pro 2.

Going by MS executives recent statements, RT will not live long. I highly doubt Surface 3 would ever see the light of the day. Deal with your own risk.

Please avoid all Windows RT tablets. All these tablets are on their last legs given that X86 based tablets are getting launched at lower prices.

Check out Dell Venue 8 Pro or something which runs BayTrail processors.

Its such a sweet deal but the problem is 7 inch screen size looks really small specially when one is accustomed to using 5 inch screens on your smart phone. If only they had a variant with a larger screen size.

Any one knows a reliable Tablet repair center in south bangalore?
I have an acer A300 which I bought from US with a cracked display ( display is fine, touch dont work). I got a replacement screen/digitizer from US, but not able to find a service center.
Acer auth. repair shop in Jayanagar is not accepting it stating non Acer sourced replacement part. Went to SP road one day only to find everybody ready to experiment on the tablet and give it repaired next day. I am not leaving the tablet and password due to important data in it. some people even tried to open the screen using a screwdriver from front:Shockked:
An experienced service center wont ask for password for screen replacement.

Purchased a Google Nexus 16GB wifi only for 7999/- on flipkart. Delivery expected by 17th. Its almost 50% off.

This is the 2012 version, its what I have, I got it for 9k on 27 Nov, its not 50% off, the 2013 version sells at 20-27k depending on connectivity and storage. 8k is still a good deal, it updates to 4.4.2 automatically, I started using KitKat from the day I got, thanks to Google's priority updates.

The 9K was also a much discounted price. I got it for 10K in the first week of October. But even that was a discounted price - because that's when the 2013 was released abroad. I think this originally sold for 13K or something.

Nexus 7 old one is under stock clearance.
But what I can conclude is that the manufacturer and the retailer both have pretty good margins. So, a product costing 13-15K can be sold at 8K and still avoid making any loss.

My Nexus 7 got delivered yesterday, but it did not upgrade to JB 4.4 automatically. Its running on JB 4.2 though. The experience is very very good with the Nexus.
