GPS child trackers

Hi team,

We have many threads on the forum dedicated to GPS trackers for vehicles but I couldn't find any for info on GPS trackers for children.

With rising crime rate in the country most of us keep worrying about our loved ones, especially small children. Both my nieces are toddlers and have just started going to pre-school; I want to buy GPS trackers for them so we can always be assured of their safety.

I googled for GPS tracking devices and found that many systems are available abroad, but could hardly find any suitable chip in India. Basically, I'm looking for a small chip that could be fitted on their school bags; if such systems aren't reliable enough then wrist watches would be the second choice.

Techies please help!

Re: GPS child trackers

the problem is not tracking, but communicating it back to home. easiest thing would be to get a GPS enabled cellphone connection with intermittent location transmission. you will need to look into the frequency of transmission that doesn't eat the battery too fast.

there are other trackers with FM or other local transmitter with limited range (need to be approved by govt) and they go off the moment they detect a movement outside the range. but once outside the range, there is no way to communicate the location back.

Please have a look at following site

GPS Navigation India | Personal Navigation Device(PND) | Turn by Turn Navigation

Though I have not used child phone from them but I am using other product.
Their Customer support simply ROCKS.

Cheers

Re: GPS child trackers

Thanks for the quick replies guys!

The SatGuide phone seems to be a good option, but will evaluate the option of a proper GPS phone as well as they are quite cheap these days.

Google latitude works good for a friend who gifted his sales team Android cellphones, will try that software tomorrow.
