Help me Decide - Used Lancer or New Swift?

Hello all,

Now my time of purchace is comin near ......... i am selling my old Ford Escort and lookin for a new good car. I had my options as a used Mitsubishi Lancer or a New Swift. I zeroed on Swift Vxi and then some turbo charging and slight mods. But still not able to dump the lancer because i actually love lancers because i grew up among them for the past 10 years ... my dad's office gave him new lancers every year.

Does turbo charging give any changes in milage? What are the pros and cons and cost of turbocharging the swift?

I was even thinkin of buying a normal old zen and with the remining money ... buy a yamaha R6 or a 400cc SBK ..... god help me .......... Help me decide ppl.

How ab8 this?

get a used lancer. use the remaining money to mod the car and you still have some money left with you. Coz a used lancer will be much cheaper than a new swift. then maybe u can also have your superbike with a bit more investment.

If you want to mod your car that is turbocharging and all, if done by a experienced proffessional, will not have any adverse effect.

So to mod a second hand lancer would be a better choice. As it is built to handle all the extra meat from the engine.

A new swift ??? you will loose the warranty on it, though it looks mouth watering.

Anyday to mod, a used lancer is a more practical choise than a new swift.

Used lancer any day mate....more snob value..more power...more space...and modding it would take u on a diff plane all together...go for good condition low mileage one...u'll find plenty

lancer?? underpowered??.. a stock lancer can decimate ikons n accents...its not only the bhp that matters.. modify a lancer and it can zoom by any indian car you name... pay a visit to performance auto, noida and they will tell you what a lancer can do.

after a lot of thoughts.. and looking at baleno's and accents.. i have decided to go in for a lancer,... a very well off 2003 model would set you back by 3 - 3.25 lakh.

tough decision to make here!!after all the comparison is between a new car and a used one.if you want to modify, dont think about the new swift-get the lancer.if you are planning to change cars on a regular basis also, better go for the 2nd hand lancer as depreciation will hit you less.
but if you want the peace of mind of a warranty, not planning any serious mods etc. go for the new one-the swift that is.
personally,i would choose the lancer!!

yes i personally love the lancer... baby its so hot

Coming to mods that i expect in nothing too "BLING BLING" ... just alloys, audio, normal spoiler. But coming to something serious .... i am very much serious about turbocharging.... well not that i am going to race around at high speeds (am at hyd so no good roads)... i just love the sound of a turbo charged engine. I heard there are some stuff u cud attach to ur exhaust to get that turbo kinda sound .... is it true?

And how much does turbocharging a Lancer cost? And can anybody give me the figures of milage and performance before and after turbocharging?

I guess i will save the xtra money left over and add some more in 3 years time and buy myself a brand new Yamaha R1 when i start my PG

Now coming to the car ..... one doubt :

Suppose i buy a stock second hand lancer in showroom condition, and if i mod it, say turbocharging, etc etc ..... will i get a nice resale value???

And suppose i do some cosmetic mods(possible) , for example, if i mod it similar to arush's lancers ..... i said "SUPPOSE"!!!! ..... then what about the resale value?

In the first place ur gettin a second hand Lancer, so the u can't expect much when u sell it later on. But if u have plans to mod it, then i suppose u'll be keeping it for atleast a year. Yea definately u'll lose a lakh or two, but not more than that..And even if u do mod it, u can sell it off in the stock condition and sell the aftermarket stuff saperately or use them for another car(if u can)
