Between the Swift and the Baleno! Advice please

Hi All,
I know I am comparing chalk and cheese here, the swift and the Baleno belong to completely different segments and all very different machines. Also one is a three box while the other is a two box hatch..... But still I am faced with this choice of buying either one of them ....so request some help here.

My requirements: (In the order of priority)
1. Great drive experience, should suit both the city and the highways
2. Minimum maintenance cost/frequency
3. Fuel efficiency (looking for atleast 12 Kmpl in the city and 15 kmpl on the highway)
4. Handling ease
5. Decent resale value.

Please advice!

Thanks in advance!!!
Cheers,
Shanx

Go for swift....you'll get all that you want and still save some money. You will get a new/stylish car and better resale value.

Cheers!!!

Well IMHO its better to go for the swift .. Bundled with great safety features , a fresh look , better resale value , good handling , fuel efficient , pretty nippy should suit all ur requirements ..

Baleno though satisfies most of the above except for the dated looks and safety features is a decent performer , makes more sense if one is going for a few engine mods etc .. Gives u that extra boot space and obviously the sedan image and is more VFM than most cars in that bracket .. If ur into the modding scene then the equation changes a bit ..

Both maruti products satisfies most of the requirements.....

In looks its between a kind of racer boy look v/s a dated look

Also the fact that boot is required or not....If u drive mostly in the city go for Swift n if u regularly go for long trip it has to be a Baleno....

Swift.

Baleno is a bit faster. But Swift is fast too.

Swift will be similar Fuel-efficiency as baleno.

interiors are better or swift. But space and rear seat comfort is better on Baleno.

both have climatronic a/c

Swift has ABS and Airbags which baleno misses out.

If you need boot then only baleno makes sense otherwise overall Swift is miles ahead.

Even if my favorite brand, DaimlerChrysler (whom I respect a long time) was in the unenviable predicament of having to push an inverted bathtub to customers, I wouldn't be swayed.

Moreso when the key argument against the Baleno is that its beauty was conceived some elapsed time ago.

Check out this post.

Thanked: Once

go for a baleno for good torque and good driving plus performance and fe as compared to swift. but swift has a little advantage over interiors(only little) and is not as spacious as it seems to be.so imho go for baleno and my new baleno is giving me 14 kpl fe and 16 in highway.

Baleno

+ Performance
+ Rear Seat Comfort
+ Boot

Swift

+ New Fresh look
+ Resale Value
+ ABS & Airbas

Now pick based on your preference for the positives mentioned
above.

Swift FE is 12 in City & 17 on Highway on Decent Driving...in that case baleno is a better option...performance wise ,boot space and FE
