Budget 5 Lacs - Santro / Swift

I've been toying with an idea for some time now on what my next car would be.

For a budget of 5 lacs i've two cars in mind

Swift Vxi
*******
Mods would be limited to a decent ICE setup, upsize tyres and alloys. No performance mods for the present.

Santro ERlx
*********
Now the two complaints I have of the Santro is a jiggly suspension and a half hearted response (I think ERlx has sorted this out). Now since i'll have some bucks to spare out of that 5 lacs - heres what i see can be added

ICE Setup - 15k (me not all hot on this. decent music is all i need)
Alloys and upsize (175 what sez?) - 25K

Koni FSD (if possible for Santro) - 40k else normal Koni shocks - 20k?
KN Universal Filter + freeflow header and expansion chamber. - 10k

The santro will also give me a better mileage too but ooh the Swift ..damn i love the looks.

So your comments guys?

Drive on!!
Shibu.

For 5L i think you could leave out the Santro.

Why not a GetZ ? You would love the SPACE that u get in a GETZ. Plus the Fit n finish on Getz is better than Swift. Some nice 16" RIMS + rubber would give you an souped up look.

I think you are more interested in the mods!...the santro option looks tempting ...

But, it seems that Hyundai are coming out with a new Santro...maybe you can wait for that.

But, if you are looking at budgeting 5 lakhs, the Swift is your option

could you please elaborate your requirements...

1. have you zeroed in between the santro/swift, or are you open to ideas??
2. are you interested in sedans like indigo, esteem, ikon etc???

this would help us in giving you some useful suggestions.

If you are looking at performance modding your car then I would seriously advise you to stay away from the Santro. It is a great small car but to achieve that goal it has some inherent compromises due to which it does not lend itself too well for performance modding purposes. And before the Santro lovers bring out the daggers I have owned & driven a santro for 3 years & my mother's current car is a santro too!

And a Koni suspension on a Santro would be sheer overkill.

A Swift would be much better suited to your purpose or better still if you can upgrade your budget a little I would advise you to look at the Baleno LXi. This car was simply made for modding and there are a myriad of options readily available in the market for it. You would have a great time driving it too.

Otherwise the Swift is the best option. It looks great with nice, big rims & you might consider painting the rood & mirrors white, Mini-ishtyle! Makes it look ultra cool.
