Dear friends,

I am planning to buy used Daewoo Matiz 2000 model, i am getting it for 60,000 Rs, is it right decision to buy it? I want to add CNG kit in to it after sometime, my daily run is 70k in city, I intend to use AC 90%, what milage shd i except from this car ?, is it worth buying the car

plz advice

Thank you in advance
Jitendra

in the city around 10 , but that hugely depends how the car has been maintained ,

why would you want to do that...spares are hard to get and a zen is a way better option than that of a matiz...you could also conisder the maruti 800.

Hi friend,

Its better to go in for a 800 or Zen.
Matiz will be a headache for the following:

- Spare Parts
- condition of car ...as spare parts will be a problem for you and the previous owner.....
- maintennace cost ??

Tnx n Rgds
P4C

as everyone said its better to go for a 800 or a zen.

p.s - i think this thread should be in the `what car ?` section buddy :)

as all the other team-mates have asked you bud, WHY the Matiz? Why on earth would you even think of getting an almost extinct vehicle

Guys,

I alredy own M800, but i am tired if it, i am getting it for cheper cost that's whay i was palnning to buy it, or can you guys tel me how much 2000/2001 zen or WagonR will cost me ??

Thx in advance

JItendra

a zen 2000 will cost you about a lakh and a wagonR about 1.25, but atleast you get parts for these things...pl dont fall for the matiz trap.. spend now to save a sorry face later.

As a Matiz owner for the last 5-6 Years, here is my take:

1. Would I buy a used Matiz today?
No
2. Would I sell my Matiz today?
I dont think so.
3. Are spares a problem?
No. Atleast not in BLR. But, then I only needed a driveshaft and tail-lamp till date. So cant comment more.
4. Is it a good car if you intend to use the AC all the time?
Yes and No. Yes because the AC is very good. But once the AC is on, the 800cc engine is barely sufficient.

Agree very well with what Su-47 says. Have a matiz for the past 6 years. Have had no problems at all. Usual maintenance like oil, brake pads etc.

If you are willing to take the risk then go for it. You won't get a better car for such a cheap price. Get a Matiz engineer to check out the car before you buy it, should you choose this option.

Well it is a problem up North, a local garage recently was rebuilding a Matiz engine & it took him around 3 weeks just to source all the required parts from 3 different locations including Delhi & Meerut.

I would agree with SU here. Both of my mother's Matiz's had the same problem - The Joke among the family was that you could operate one thing at one time, either the Car or the A/C!!! Basic problem is that the A/c is a bit too big for the puny engine & in the city causes severe driveability problems.

Ahem! That hurt a bit.I still have a Matiz, mint condition,81000km driven and its a peach to drive around. Not extinct. Not almost extinct either.
If you still like to call it that, the Spark is just round the corner.
The Phoneix shall rise from the ashes!lol:

I wouldnt suggest anyone to buy a used 2000 model one though.

@su 47
spares are a problem bro!
in delhi however at kotla mubarakpur everythings available (for a hiccup price though).

Add to what everyone has said that even after launch of Spark, GM won't be supporting the current Matiz for servicing.

BTW I don't think there is any drivability issue with Matiz when AC is ON.

Hi Jitendra,

I nearly fell into the Matiz thing when I got my first car (a used one), but I saw the light in right time.

As you already have an 800, and want to look for something better, please look at used Santros and/or Wagon Rs. You will have to shell out more, but it will be worth it.

Also, if money is a constrain, but you want a "change" you could consider spending some money on your M800 and doing a face lift. Better ICE (music system), newer interiors, a new paint job perhaps, and some eye candy for the exteriors - it will make your car feel new and keep you and your wallet happy as well.:) I would rather do this rather than buy a Matiz.

Dear johy,

Thx for your reply, Facelift is a better idea, but there is a Problem where can i get example of modified M800, if you have it plz forward me snaps or link, and Guys also help me to get better solution for AC in M800

Thx,
Jitendra
