Accent might be discontinued, and this could affect the resale value.

I would say, go for the Swift.

As for your parameters-
1. good performance- Both cars would give decent performance.
2. decent space for weekend outings with a family of 4- Swift is very comfortable for 4 people. However, 5 people will feel comfier in an Accent.
3. decent milage- Swift should score over Accent.
4. drive pleasure- Swift, no doubt. Accent has got a soft suspension compromising handling for comfort.
5. ownership experience- Not much to choose, although Maruti still has an edge over Hyundai.

If you want proper space for 4 and the swift and the accent are your only options then take the accent

I drove my friend's Accent Viva and I felt that it has a bit of understeer as it was not going in the direction that I pointed it as fast as I expected it to (I'm comparing it to the steering characteristics of the old Zen). But otherwise I felt it was a nice car, very comfortable and decent acceleration.

From a couple of drives in the Swift, I felt that a lot of the power comes a bit high up in the rev band, so you need to work the engine a little bit harder to get good acceleration. If that's ok, I think you should not have any problems with the Swift, especially for seating 4 people.

looking at your requirements i think the accent would edge out the swift as the right choice.

thanks a ton guys meanwhile I had a look at the IKON its a great car but comparing it to the cars on the road it looks kind of dated, not to say anything against the performance, drive feel which is amazing but still a lil skeptical on the running costs and the total cost of ownership. I am also test drivng the palio 1.6 today will keep u guys in the loop for everything and again a big thanks for ur replies

Rohits, do you really require the boot space on the car? That would help in filtering some of the answers pouring in.

Accent GLE is not a bad car, as such, but at close to 6 lakhs On road (Bangalore) you may have better cheaper options.

Between Accent GLE and Swift, I would recommend Swift for your requirements.
1. good performance - Both are good
2. decent space for weekend outings with a family of 4 - Accent scores in the back seat space
3. decent milage - Swift is the winner
4. drive pleasure - Both are good, however swift might be slightly more powerful.
5. ownership experience _ I own an Accent CRDi and my experiance is Good, so is the ***.

If u can do without a dikki then go for the swift , accent may be discontinued in a short while but IMO Accent Black still looks stunning !!
