Oh yes, it is available in delhi for the past 6 - 8 months. They are charging a premium of 60k over the petrol version for the kit.

And if i am not wrong, they are retro fitting a CNG kit over the New Santro i.e. CNG Kit is fitted by Dealer rather then a Company fitted CNG Kit.

Ram you may enlighten on this particular thing !!

there are so many dealers doing this but all this would be at the cost of waranty which the customer is not aware of.as of now hyundai has not launched the lpg version.but they may be here at any point.a premium of 60k is day light robbery.the lpg version of wagon r is costing 25k more than the petrol version.and the advantage is that its factory fitted and comes with a waranty too.

The Santro CNG was launched Last June 2007. The Kit OEM is Minda Impco, Decent Kit- Although a better kit type is available in after market options without warranty.

Yes the Kit is approved by Hyundai and is retrofitted by Hyundai Dealers.

Since you are THE CNG expert here, how do you rate it ? Have you had a chance to drive it ? How does it compare with the XETA ?

Thanked: Once

How is the ride quality of a CNG runned car in comparison to an LPG one? Is it more refined, in terms of smoothness of the engine?
AFAIK there is one CNG filling station coming up in Pune. Once that comes up may be then the Santro CNG would be launched in Pune.

I was also in similar situation few weeks, but have gone ahead and booked Xeta 1.4 CNG instead, as Santro's 1.1 Engine isn't that powerful which you would miss especially with CNG.
Also Tata's charging 49k for CNG kit and the Xeta has more features compared to the santro model at same price point..

Its good to drive, although I will say could have been better- But considering that I drive a 1.4 and the Santro was 1.1- Its a good drive in all.

Sluggy in the 2-3 Pickup, but after that quite stable and responsive. Above 60.
