New Swift VDi vs 2007 Baleno???

A relative in quandry!!

Torn between buying a new Swift VDI with ABS at 4.9 onroad(CSD price) or 2007 BSIII Baleno VXI done 20000 Kms, Mint condition(known car) LPG kit fitted and registered.

Heart as usual says Baleno and mind follows.
Cold logic says Swift. But space is a big concern.

Sugesstions to help take the decisions.

Running 1500-1800 Kms . mix of city and highway. plans to keep for three years.

Thanks

go for the baleno if long distance is a usual affair, boot also add to the advantage.now if city commuting is the main concern go for the swift.excellent mileage and torque.baleno-the main advantage is boot ,just calculate the number of times you have thought about a boot to carry luguage.if thats not that important swift would be better.

What quote did you get for the Baleno?

Follow your heard else you gonna look back tomorrow and feel sad.

1800 a month with LPG is as good as having a diesel.

New Baleno is a much better car than New Swift. Used Baleno with 20K is still better. What price for used Baleno. Consider this: the buyer is paying the penalty for depreciation, and your losses on selling an out of production car after a few years should be lower.

Crucial question is, how long are you planning to keep this car? Only down side with Baleno is that Spare parts costs will soon start going up and dealers tend to keep minimal inventory of the Baleno spares, which means slight delay if any parts are needed.

Butttt, at 20k milage, hardly anything is likely to break. Baleno is a sturdy car - costs next to nothing when it comes to maintenance. Should be good for 3 years with minimal maintenance cost.

With only expected 3-4 yrs of ownership or even more, Baleno is No.1 ,2., 3. Only negative: not a new car.

Both cars are good.If you go for Baleno it has better boot space and better leg space as well.If you dont want much boot space you can go for swift.

You have been given a benefit on Swift, utilize it and Go for it and you get a new car and peace of mind. Swift VDi in that price is definitely a steal. The engine is the best in its class till now.

Baleno has generation old looks. In three years time baleno would loose its value terribly as its out of production.

Do update us on your decision. All the best for your buy

Swift VDi is definitely a steal at that price. I suggest go for the Swift if and only if you are prepared to compromise on the space part. Also, your mileage of 1500-1800 a month justifies a diesel. LPG is no longer cheap. But if you cannot compromise on space, Baleno is the obvious answer.

Also, I'm not very much aware of used Baleno prices, but resale value of Swift is great! After 3 years, the Baleno will become 4-years-since-discontinued. If you are concerned about resale and mileage, Swift is a better bet.

All the best!
