Tata Indica (DICOR) Vs Indigo CS Diesel
Hi! Friends...both of these models have been recently launched. Indigo CS shares same Diesel engine as found in Big Indigo LS versions.
However, the Indica TURBO has New heart of DICOR.
So guys can anyone of you put light on how well is Indica DICOR Engine is performing in real time. And also if it is better than V2 Turbo Non Dicor Engine. What mileage can we expect from Indica Dicor.
the older turbo models are still available for indica :)
I think the indica turbo and indigo TDi engines are pretty much the same , except for some ECU modifications
I preffer the dicor to tdi.Indica dicor is a good vehicle but the older indica has cast a shadow on it.It has decent power and fuel economy.

:Shockked:So it means that TDI has more power and economy as compared to DICOR version? But in figures they mention 2bhp extra to DICOR. Am i missing some point?

BHP alone does not detemine the power. You need to see the torque at what rpm. This will show you which has the most powerful heart. I would prefer a TDi rather than Dicor. The reason mentioned above in ram's post.
Indica Dicor is a very decent vehicle. I have driven it and it is miles ahead of the Turbo vehilce. Man it is more powerful and the power can be felt from as low as 1600RPm. For Turbo - vehicle is same as the normal Indica till it reaches 2000 RPM as from here the turbo kicks in. Hence driveability of the car for Dicor is better that the turbo.
umm, in my experience, the Indica turbo's turbo actually kicks in somwhere around 2.5k RPM. If what others say about the DICOR (i havent used/TDd) is true, then it would be infinitely more fun in the city.
2.5k is way too high. Mine kicks in at around 1.8~2k rpm
yeah technically its supposed to kick in around 2k RPM, but the rush began (for me atleast) at 2.5k RPM. That being said, i've seen my friend keep it consistently above that in city. So one *could* get used to it, but if what people rave about hte DICOR is true, it'd be funnn.
PS: Indica DICOR with the similar VGT as the safari's - that would be naishhh
Hi,

It indeed kicks in between 1800 and 2000 rpm.
The DICOR (driven an XL) kicks in at a lower RPM, but it is more linear and does not give the same rush at a particular RPM like the Turbo.
Much more driveable!
buddy go for tdi. it here for almost 5 years. all glitches are evolved. Dicor is still new. they in learning path. more over not much of a difference in power.
sameer551,
Your query is unclear as to whether you solicit advice between the new Indica Dicor or the new Indigo CS.
It might be a better idea to wait for the new Indica successor displayed at Auto Expo. This car is expected to come with some very capable diesels. They would also iron out bugs in any new common-rail engine it might sport by the time this car enters production. All this if you're looking at the Indica Dicor currently.
Else the Indigo CS makes better sense in the current timeframe.
I don't intend hijacking this thread; just some quick questions.
a. Which of the Indica models - Indica V2, Indica Turbo, Indica Xeta and Indica V2 DiCOR offer the best FE? (both the petrol and diesel variants)
b. It is a known fact that diesel engines are high on maintenance. However, is it true that with the new DiCOR technology, there is a significant reduction in noise levels and maintenance?
c. My city driving would be minimal, but highway running would be high (which would be every 5 months in excess of 2K kms) Would it then make sense to go in for a diesel vehicle?
Would be great if any DiCOR owners in here, could share their experience?
the dicor has the best FE :)
Those who TD'd the car say NVH Is lower :)
Maintenance.... we're yet to see
What might the FE figure be, in city and on highways?
