Is there really a big issue with waiting periods for the Swift VDi in Bangalore?

There is because us normal people book and then chaps like you throw your weight around and steal the allotments. You got your car in 5 weeks right?

I waited 6 months for my car.

I sent an email to some dealers in Delhi and got a reply from one of them.
VDi has a waiting period of 1.5 months in Delhi.. i hope that will come down once i personally meet them.

Cheers

Lucky You ..

Anyways, coming back to my question .. Swift or which one ?

1. FE
2. Hatchback
3. VFM
4. Good After Sales Service
5. Good resale value

LOl Inder you have mentioned almost all the criteria.

Btw if space is not a concern how about i10 ? The amount you save on price will compensate for diesel's fuel cost. Should have decent resale

That's a nice full list of expectations

If you drive at least 1500km/month it is worth buying a diesel otherwise go for petrol. However, this is not the only criteria, these days lot of people are becoming diesel buffs. Just because of the torque pleasure, and it is definetly much more fun driving than a petrol.

I think if you pay a premium. I don't know the exact price but its around 5-10K you will get the delivery quickly. Check that option out. Here in Hyderabad, somebody i know did that.

Err...won't that be cutting into somebody else's booking?

I'd take that with caution. A few days back a dealer told me it is anywhere close to 4 months.

I'm trying to imagine a situation where everyone who has booked tries his hand at getting it out of turn. So, how will the dealer oblige? Anyway, just thinking aloud.

I'd be verrry careful with DD. They are one bunch of sweet talkers. I was advised by Competent.

Gosh!!! What is MSIL thinking of themselves. A waiting period of 1 year? Common man, we are living in 2008 and not in 1970s. We should hve some choices. All the models cannot have such a high lead time.

Inder, as far as your query goes, I feel You can wait for Indica MJD which is due to be released in Sept/Oct and it will meet most of your requirements.

Oh . Waiting period of 1 year? By that time some new models would have released. I think I am one of the luckiest. Decided red swift Vxi on a Mondday, dealer told couple of weeks but confirmed a red one is available on Wednessday, applied for loan on Thursday, got the delivery on Saturday evening.

Last week when I asked my dealer about Desire VDI for a colleague, he told 2 months. So can I believe him?

1 year waiting period? That's really shocking and unbelievable!! I've seen waiting periods of Swifts upto 6months here, but 1year? Nay!
Try checking with smaller towns. Tumkur, malur, magadi, mandya, ramnagara etc.. It's possible that you may hit your luck.

The other alternative I can think of right now is Getz Crdi. But the waiting period will almost be the same no matter wherever you book it.
Take a look at the Fiat 1.3 Mjd also. But as you are used to the Maruti peace of mind nature, I wouldn't suggest you to buy it.
UVa is a good option. Try your hands on it with a test drive. After sales and service is not that bad too.

Thanked: Once

Hyundai makes better quality cars than maruti suziki india.

hey inder getz has a much better ride quality, comfort compared to swift
and built quality too ofcourse.same with U-VA

parts, after sales service and FE is better in swift.
i would have chosen a getz over swift as i don't care much about FE but care much for ride quality and comfort. but thats just me!

best of luck for ur prchase

I don't have much info regarding this but only a couple of months back my sister booked a Swift VXI and i am 100% sure she got the delivery in the same week. She said no to that color so after another 2-3 days got the shade she wanted. How come it has risen to 1 year so soon ?
