Ease of getting in and out of the car.

Hi All,

Me n a friend of mine are thinking of buying 2nd hand (used) car.
It should be value for money.
M800 with AC/Zen/Palio etc. anything will do.

After TDing few cars, we noted that Santro n WagonR are better in getting in n out of the car.

This is especially an important factor where the ladies have difficulty in getting out with all the bags (purses) etc.

I personally find that the angle on knees should be more than 90 deg to comfortably get it/out of the car and also to be comfortably seated in the car.

This factor becomes more important for parents (read elders) and ladies will all their stuffs to carry.

Also one of my uncle has back problem. Dr told him to take cushion wherever he goes so that the knees are always and a lower position than the hips - thus effectively have knee angle of more than 90 deg. (My uncle will not be driving the car - but I just remembered this and informed that even doctors are recommending certain sitting position.)

Also these 2 cars give a good view of the traffic and hence the "confidence" in traffic conditions.

I personally find WagonR to be more comfortable than santro. But still confused. And a huge confusion.

Please vote which is a better car to get it and out and comfortable to sit.

Please note that the people getting in n out of the car are 5" to 5"8' tall.
So please note your thoughts in reply and vote which is a better car to sit and get in/out.

Thanks.

I personally love to buy Palio 1.6! Ignore the sig

Tall boy design (found in WagonR & Santro) will always help for easy ingress & egress.
'WagonR Vs Santro' is an endless debate. Drive both with regular users/passengers & then decide which one suits your needs better. Strongly feel that comfort level of regular passengers in the car is more important.

Voted for wagon R. I have been using this car for the last 6 years. I believe this is the best when it comes to easy ingress and egress; even the Doors open pretty wide

I think you should also include i10, Ritz into the poll as they also offer decent ease of ingress and egress

The Santro will be my pick as it is very easy in terms of ingress and egress. I'll vote for it simply because its a much better overall package at its class. The build quality is lightyears ahead when compared to the MUL siblings and the engine is viturally bulletproof.

@subscrive,I'm able to see Zen in your list, if your first priority is easy in & out then forget Zen.Santro is very ease in getting in & out

The rear seat of a Wagon R is usually considered more comfortable than the Santro.

There are two rear seat designs in the Wagon R.
Till 2006, you got a split seat. Very comfortable for two, but any one in the center will complain.
Also the split seats can recline.
Makes it very comfortable if the passenger wants to relax.

None of these will do if ingress/egress is your concern.

Out of Wagon R/Santro, I vote for Wagon R. My cousin has it and I find it very very practical for city drives.

I find the ride in the rear seat of Santro bumpy.

Santro v/s wagonR is an endless debate. There is no *clear* winner.
But as far as rear seats go, wagonR has better seats and not to forget it has got much better ride than the Santro which is quite bumpy at rear.
Better still, go for the modern tall boy - Ritz.

Thanks for the replies.

I dont want this topic to be wagonr vs santro.

Just a view of what people feel abt the seats or these 2 cars and if I hv missed any other car for my needs.

Also used cars like i10/ ritz/ vista (latest launches) are hard to find and also beyond my budget.

Hence already cleared that looking for used wagonr/santro/m800/zen/palio etc.

@ subscrive, IMHO, Wagon R will be the better option for you - ease of ingress & egress, reasonably better ride quality. Santro scores more in handling & gear shift quality. Look for Wagon R Vxi with ABS.
