2010 model wagon R Vxi or old model Vxi with discounts?

Requirements: city driven 5-10 kms per day in city by my wife, will be second car beside NHC, to be owned for 5-8 yrs minimum

Possibility of discounts in range of 40-50k for old model Wagon r Vxi so the cost difference will be about 70K if deal goes thru

What do u suggest should i go for new one or old model, Mine is not a Euro IV city?

Go for the new Car, it is miles ahead in terms of refinement compared to the earlier one. Alternatively you could also consider the Estilo as it has the same engine.

Definitly not miles ahead in refinement, infact its not vibration free as the older unit. Having said that, the new one is a much better car overall and is more spacious and has better suspension. Forget Estilo as it is based on old WagonR platform, not worth considering now IMO.

If it is indeed 5-10 kilometres per day, and the discount in 70K (is that like 15-20% off?), I'd go for the old model.

I think the older one looked better. The only good looking WagonR (new) that I've seen on this forum is a chocolate brown one bought by the bhpian (Nut-Case), and he did some minor mods.

However, I must mention that this makes sense only if you plan to keep the car for a while, otherwise the resale value reduction wouldn't make this worthwhile.

The biggest improvement that I think the newer one will have over the older one is the gear shift, which IMHO was absolutely horrible in the older one. Otherwise the older one is a pretty nice car. But 70K is a huge discount so I guess you will getting it within 3L right? At that price the older wagonr makes a lot of sense.

With the savings around 70K, I would go for the old WagonR with my eyes closed. I feel the old ones overall quality is better then the new one.

There is no way the old wagon R is better in quality than the new one. I own a 2003 WagonR and have driven my BILs 2008 wagon R extensively. The new wagon R is miles ahead in terms of interior space, quality, practicality, gear shift and even engine power. If you plan to keep the car for more than 3 years, I suggest you go for the new one.

"new" here means 2010 model of wagonR with 3-cylinder (so called) K series engine. Body is completely redone I guess.
