BMW terminates dealer agreement with Platino Classic

Thanks to Rajesh Varghese for sending this image in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

BMW India has terminated its dealer agreement with Platino Classic Motors (India) Private Limited. The agreement ended on December 31, 2018:

Platino Classic can no longer market or sell BMW Vehicles and BMW Genuine Parts and also cannot repair or service BMW vehicles. They have showrooms in Kochi, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram.

There have been numerous complaints on Team-BHP against Platino Classic. They were accused of selling old cars as new, selling re-painted demo cars and poor service of Mini cars.

With many complaints against the dealership, it is good that BMW has ended the dealership agreement. They will not be missed.

Good move IMO! But that leaves BMW with only 1 dealer (EVM Autokraft Kochi) in Kerala. In comparison Mercedes is expanding to smaller locations; recently saw a dealership in Thrissur, which makes it 4 in the state.

I am in fact surprised that it took BMW so long. Team-BHP & the web are filled with horror stories about Platino. Anyway, good riddance to bad rubbish.

There were many lawsuits. Example - Platino owners apply for anticipatory bail

I understand that Bangalore is getting one more BMW dealership by JFM quarter end this will ease out to certain extent the BMW owners who are in Karnataka boarder the ordeal of traveling all the way with to KOCHI for service.
Perhaps the arrogance of Navneet Motors will also comes down a bit with this appointment.

Bangalore is still very far
Kerala being a good market for luxury manufacturers I feel new dealerships will be coming up soon, at least in Calicut.

It is very sad to see Platino go away. My experience with them has been very good. There should be about 100 employees across 3 dealerships that will be negatively affected by the termination.

BMW has already taken steps to ensure that customers towards the northern side and southern side are covered for service with temporary services centres. Got a text from BMW saying they have done the same, yesterday. EVM has to step up now and fill in the shoes faster with more dealerships and permanent services centres. Sigh!
