Pre-purchase experiences at dealerships

In the process of buying my first car, I had shortlisted Alto, Santro and Spark. Walked into Advaith Hyundai in Residency Road, Bangalore one evening. First thing they did was to note down my name and mobile number in a book, after which the SA provided all details of the car. I did not buy the Santro.

What I appreciate is that in well over 10 years after that, not once have I received a call or text from them regarding any promotions or new cars.
