Tata Sumo Booked in United Motors in Mumbai - 1994 - Yet to be Delivered

Guys saw this news on the Times Of India Paper and was a bit surprise to read it.

Sub Section - CONSUMER WATCH MAILBOX

14-year wait for car

I booked a Tata Sumo on November 29, 1994, and deposited Rs 20,000. The vehicle was booked with United Motors in Mumbai, since I was working in Mumbai then. The booking form no. was 185651. My booking had a nominee closely related to me who still stays at the booking address. Neither I nor my nominee has received any communication from United Motors or Tata’s till today, even after 14 years. Now I’m retired, and I expect a refund of the deposit with interest.

P Y Parry, BANGALORE

Does anyone care, the dealer has enjoyed the money happily.

This is surely going to open a can of worms. Some 1 might see this & say that he had booked a Premier Padmini some 30 years back & is still waiting delivery.
Media today has lost the real essence of news reporting. Anything which is spicy & bound to attract attention makes it way into the news pages.

it is true. My manager's dad one paid the booking amount (several thousand k) for a 118NE, and soon after , PAL shut shop. they never got the car.

But Tata is still around. Its not like they went bankrupt. I'd be curious why
