Manipal Motors Bangalore no longer TATA dealers?

There is a public notice from Tata Motors on the Times of India (Bangalore - Page 13) saying -'Manipal Motors have ceased to be the Authorized Dealers of the TATA passenger vehicles since 24 September 2009", But they seem to be still selling Tata and Fiat cars.

It's been on for quite some time, and were running on what little stock of spares they had - trying to finish them. They were doing only oil changes and routine servicing. Sales had stopped even before that.

Apparently some financial over-dues are also there from Manipal to TM.

There is a new TATA-Fiat dealership opening soon in Whitefield near Cosmos mall in AECS layout. Work on this showroom has been going on since two months now. Name of the dealership is KHT Motors.

Manipal motors were looking after daewoo vehicles also AFAIK. After the matiz businees closed many dealers shifted the service to manipal motors for ex. URS cars from mysore. will this be affected now?

Yes they started with Daewoo and shifted to TATA motors in the early 90's.

Sad to see a BIG time dealership closing down abruptly.

While no one knows the story behind this, but apparantly heard TATA motors has lot of influence in Manipal shutting down.

But on the whole, i never had a good experience with Manipal, Be it with our

1) 2001 Matiz- Had a horrid experience with their service levels, now the car is running fine, thanks to a local workshop nearby.

2) 2006 3L Safari Dicor - My long term experience thread has all the sad after effects of Manipal motors service, Now since i switched over to Prerana Motors, i am more at peace.

If they had ordered a bulk number of cars with the manufacturer and later cancelled then this is what happens, the manufacturer will insist to buy the whole lot booked by the showroom and will stop the supply of other cars until the booked stocks are cleared by the showroom.

KHT Motors

KHT motors is now open,

But am not aware if its only a Dealership or a Service Centre too. If yes, it will be most convenient for ORR, Marathalli and Whitefield for servicing apart from Emm Emm motors.

Dadu, also check out on whether they are a dealer or a sub-dealer. offlate Tata seems to be plumping for huge sub dealers in big cities. We have one such here in Hyderabad (Detroit). They sell cars and have a huge huge service facility and glitzy waiting area (all wood and glass, overlooking all the service bays below from its glass walls) that can put any big dealer to shame. They even claim to be dealers. It is only much later on my second visit that I accidentally realized that they are a sub dealer attached to Concorde Motors.
