Steep Hike in Service Charges by M&M Service Centres

I discovered a sharp hike in service charges when I visited the M&M Authorized Service Centre (Koncept, Okhla).

The rates are:

Scorpio service without washing:
Old rate=Rs.850; new rate=Rs.1200. A 41% change.

Scorpio service with washing:
Old rate=Rs.1200; new rate=Rs.1600. A 33% change.

Is this a change across all M&M service centres in India, or confined to the Delhi/NCR region? Could other M&M product users please confirm?

I understand this was a move initiated by M&M, but initial implementation of the hiked prices is only for the Delhi/NCR region. Please confirm whether or not service charges have increased across the country.

Re: Steep Hike in Service Charges by M&M Service Centres

Not very surprising for me. When I enquired for a Scorpio 4X4 automatic at Trivandrum, I asked what is the discount offer. The marketing manager quoted 5K, and I responded that it is too low an offer. His immediate reply is "M&M as a company doesn't encourage bargaining, that is why it provides only one dealer in a state. This is also because M&M values its dealers very much". That was news to me - customer is not valued anymore? Nobody from the M&M Trivandrum Dealer called me ever since. I don't think this is a one off case, because last year I had enquired for Xylo, and I was promised a call back in one day (It's been one year since).

I went back to have my front dampers replaced today under warranty, and also had the engine oil changed. The labour charge for only changing the engine oil & oil filter is a whopping Rs.550 + taxes.

It is a different matter that I got a substantial discount.

Re: Steep Hike in Service Charges by M&M Service Centres

wow this is bad news man
what are they thinking

M&M at this rate is going to lose out on the several bazillion consumer base it has built here in India since 1946!!

shortsighted policies.

Yes in todays rising cost scenario they need to charge - but let the charges be reasonable and the increase be done over some time and not "overnight" like this!

I shall check with SKS auto in Bangalore and see if the increased charges apply here too!
Anyway for me, with one more year of Extended Warranty I have to go to the Authorized Service Centre. If I find their charges to be unfairly high, then after this year, I shall start going to a good quality mechanic / garage who may NOT be part of the M&M authorized network, but who might give me just the same if not better quality of service!!

That'll be good, Shankar. I have a sneaky suspicion that my ASC is pulling a fast one by hiking rates on their own, and M&M may not have a hand in it.

Thanx GD sir for saving this money. The amount I paid for service seems peanuts here.

Do you know anyone Shankar? Hariya is out of warranty for quite some time now and I d rather go to a reliable and knowledgeable mechanic outside rather than going to the ASC.

Yup, even I would have gone the same way if maintaining service records to avail of warranty was not an issue.
