imports seized in Delhi?!

Jus saw on ndtv, some 20+ imported cars were seized today at the J.P greens, greater noida (outside delhi) by cops/customs..

any one got more news on that ?

I dont have any news on that BUT they could have been seized because of misusing the EPCG scheme

I think they were dubious imports under the TR scheme. crazy fools the people who buy em!!

Crazy fools or crazy rules? The way I see it, it's absurd that everyone has to pay over 100% duty, but hotels and travel agencies can pay just 10% with the requisite bond being furnished. I mean, where is 105% and where is 10%, they aren't on the same page. As long as you have dumb rules, people will try to work their way around them!

jaypee had booked cars undr the epcg scheme by providing documents which stated that the cars would be used to ferry tourists for their resorts but actually the customs found out that the cars were being used by executives of jp for daily use.....jp has countered by sayin that initially the cars were bought for hotel use but later the plan was dropped to employ the cars in resorts and hotels and therefore were being used by executives.well i think the govt is to blame for this and not individuals...y have a 105% import duty.
