Re: Report, Pics & Videos : BMW Xdrive experience 2011 (Gurgaon)

Great thread Tanveer! The videos and photographs are an absolute treat. And it's good to see BMW taking the initiative to organize such events in the country. I mean, if Mercedes can do it, I'm sure BMW can pull a few strings and organize such events too.

But this leaves me with a question. What is BMW actually trying to prove here? The X1, X3, X5 and the X6 are primarily driven in and around cities. No one really takes these BMWs off-road, really. Besides, the off-road course that they've designed is hardly anything to be actually worried about. Most soft-roaders should be able to handle such terrain. So what sets BMW's off-roaders apart from the rest?

And when I say 'the rest', I'm talking about cars with similar technology and prowess. I believe that Mercedes' GL-Class and G-Wagen are much better off-roaders than these.

But EXCELLENT brand building exercise by BMW.
Mercedes should learn a lesson or tow.

Errm, before Tsk was beaming in the sand, Mercedes was already on its second batch of people doing this

A month earlier, Tejas has organised this

I think it was the other way around. Merc and BMW are playing the Ambani brothers!

Ooops !

I had seen the latter thread - the Automission track excursion by Shaman - for 'Existing' Merc owners.

Even showed my Dad those 'dirty' (referring to the slush covered Mercs) pics - making us both drool in unison !

But I totally missed that Leh trip! Now that is what I was talking about.

I withdraw my words.

A MUCH superior effort by the 3 pointer star.

Forgive me - but it really makes me happy to see them get back in the game.
I am undoubtedly partial to Mercedes Benz & Tata.

It's like, I just want to see them do better & better.

& now .... If you shall excuse me - I have to go back to that thread & complete reading it all over again !

Finally the insides of a G55 !
THANK YOU ! For making my morning !

Our "handlers" were quite unfazed. Just switch it off and on. And that was it.
Everything back to normal.

So I guess, BMW may have some gremlins under the hood which require sorting, esp with the new X3 system.
So it was a Microsoft designed system eh? Hope it does not have a ctrl+alt+del option

Well more power to the tech!
That's a very true statement

the 258bhp 3.0l X3 should be a hoot to drive! I guess it should do 6.xx sec 0-100kmph! in the same region of Porsche Cayenne S eh? (at half the price!!!)

the 330d convertible looks really interesting and would do great if priced similar to the rest of the 3 series versions.

BMW Experience Tour 2014: Coming to Kolkata

Guys,

Anyone attended the BMW Experience Tour 2014, which was held in Hyderabad today?

Check this link out?

http://www.zigwheels.com/news-featur...derabad/19779/

According to this the BMW team has covered Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chandigarh, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai. After today's Hyderabad, they will head to Bangalore, Kochi, Lucknow and Kolkata.

However the registration link on http://www.bmw-experiencetour.in/experience.php has no mention of Kolkata?

Any know anything? whether they are headed to Kolkata or not, and if so when, and where to register?

Seems like a fun event?
