Cars gonna cost a bomb in Maharashtra in the next Financial year

Sad news for people and Maharashtra.. But I hope the bill doesnt get passed!!

Cars from 1st April 2006 will cost a bomb to register in the state of Maharashtra..
The Motor Vehicle Tax applied will be as follows...

CKD Personal Registration 7% ( Hike of 3% from the earlier 4%)
CBU Personal Registration 14%(Twice that of Personal Registration as it was earlier 8% double that of the earlier 4%)
CKD & CBU Company Registration 21%( 3 times that of Personal Registration)

Well so if one end up buying a 20 Lac car and wants to register it on your companies name then he would end up paying approx Rs. 4.20 lacs ...

What the hell is the State Government doing... And what are they gonna do with the money... eat it all up!!!

This step was taken because they wanted the rate to be in line with that of the neighbouring states... But what they fail to understand is that in Bangalore even thought the RTO tax is 9%; its the same whether personal or company registration... Not three times like in MH.

Guy from Maharashtra start thinking about getting urself a piece of property somewhere in Goa or Karnataka...

Cheerssssssssssss

All this is going to do is create more problems for the govt to track down cars being bought in other states for use in maharastra coz thats whats gonna happen if people have to pay so much more tax.

This is nuts! Are we trying to go backwards? If they were giving back somehting for all these taxes, that's a different case, but we all know what happens with our tax money.

Come on guys.. don't you see why this is happening? Our POOR govt officials need some way of making more money for them to siphon out off the coffer's.. we HAVE to support them!! DUH!!!
@Rtech.. the govt should actually pay US for using the crappy roads that we have in our state so that we can fix our cars and bikes with all the damn damage that's caused while driving on our not so billiard table like roads..what say?
