Hello Frenz,

Kindly help me out in this.

Is there any SUV staged for a launch this year in India. I drive a Tata Safari and seriously planning for a change, if there is no launch i will go for Ford Endeavour next month.

Regds

Ford endeavour CRDi is expectwd for launch by the end of this year

Toyota fortuner is also expected for a launch by early 2007lol:

chevrolet's Soft roader
ford endeavour crdi
new mahindra soft roader
mitsubishi's outlander
toyota fortuner(not sure of the name)

are expected to be launched this year.

like the endeavor ?? then wait for the new - 143 horses and 33.3kgm torque. you'll have other options by the year-end too , as mentioned above

Exately, wait for the more powerful Endeavour. This one will have that macho looks and bags of power n torque.

Hang on mate, the crdi endeavour is certainly coming this year so don't buy it next month! I've been waiting a while as well.......

If it is sure that toyota is going to launch the fortuner, you should wait for it (if you have time). I checked it out (not in India) and it is wonderful vehicle, but i havnt had a test drive. Good features, good engine, good space inside and above all good offroad capability. It has almost all features in prado LX version (not the VX which is available here). expected at a price around 15lakhs, it a good vehicle for that price.

1. Good features - no it comes with pretty basic features at entry level, which I am sure is the version that we will get in India.

2. Good engine - They sell it with 2 engine options here, a 2.7 litre VVTi and a 4.5 litre V6. You can bet that we wont get either engine in India - if we do, the price will put it into the 20 lakhs plus range. We will probably get the two engines currently doing duty on the Innova.

3. Good space inside - I beg to disagree. The rear seat is quite cramped for a vehicle of that size. Maybe I'm spoilt, but my knees were too close to the driver's backside for comfort.

4. Good offroad capability - its a softroader.

Finally it looks like an Innova on stilts, which is as attractive as Mamata Banerjee wearing stilettos.

Its a good vehicle, but nothing to rave about. The USP is that its a Toyota.

Steeroid that was hilariousrl: though you'd have quite a challenge on your hands to try and make MB look attractive in any avatar!
