The thread is about updated X1 and the Kuga, but the discussion so far is mainly on the Kuga :)

The X1 facelift looks interesting. From what I read around, this facelift is more to address the feedbacks on quality, and also to add on the 8-speed gearbox.

Re. the pricing - UK discount prices range from around GBP 20000 for 2wd to 26,000 for topend AWD with powershift. So in all probality you will get pricing of 20L to 28L unless Ford does local assly. & localises minor items like Battery, Tyres, Glass etc. Most unlikely. So another high priced import with 2 digit sales!!

20-28 lakhs is highly unlikely IMHO. At the best, the pricing should be on par with the Yeti, or even lower (if manufactured locally).

You would do better with the Q3 as product for product it is a far better offering than the X1 currently. .............. Question is, who do you want to listen to, other than your own heart and head!

Very well said Sir ! clap:

Irrespective of what the Q3 offers currently the X1 still needed to go in for an improvement. Someone i know at the dealership claims that the car was in for some work (facelifted X1) and the ride quality is somewhat softer as compared to the outgoing car. The transmission does work well for the 20d engine as in the 520d and the engine felt a bit more refined.

Lets also hope the base variant is not as spartan as it is now and we get more car per car !

guys, as per CONFIRMED inputs (my inputs on ford have been spot on till date :D) the Kuga is a certainty for india and will be a CKD to start with and based on the demand, may move to manufacturing too. so expect very competitive pricing (hint- there is a wide gap between the XUV and the fortuner)

Ford's plan is to make india the hub for small SUV manufacture for south east Asia and Africa.

CKD is great news. Then they will be able to position it in the 15-20 Lakhs on road price range. Any info on exact launch dates?

Great news if ford is going to launch the kuga here in India.Based on the link given by the OP it seems it is the 2011 kuga that will be launched, not the US based Escape (basically the 2013 kuga!!) Why is ford launching an older model instead of the latest??Escape to Europe: Ford Kuga Unveiled for the Continent [Geneva Auto Show]

Does ford plan on selling this older kuga to India and Africa while Europe/US enjoy the new one!! If they are gonna launch the older Kuga then it should be priced in the range of the XUV to justify this treatment!lol:

The link given is just an indication. OP can clarify if that was the old Kuga or the 2013 Kuga.

Based on the new "One Ford" strategy, ford should be launching the latest and the same models everywhere in the world. So, I doubt if they'll bring the old model in India while rest of the world get the new one.
If that's their strategy, they would have launched the old generation EcoSport here thereby bringing down cost.

I hope its just an indication, since the OP saw it in the flesh! The 2013 kuga is bigger than the yeti and slightly smaller than the XUV 500 so if priced around 11.5 to 14 lakhs, will see it fly of the showroom even though its a five seater! Hopefully we can get some more info from the OP

The 2013 Kuga is a bit similar to the Nissan Qashqai, VWTiguan, Audi Q3 and Korando C more or less.
Not a bad idea for a possible lateral shift when the time comes - at 20 to 22 lac it would be a nice compact 5 seater SUV with 4WD pretty much go anywhere ability. I am keen to see the Q2 as well because that will be the same size as the Yeti but several notches up in quality and trim!

BMW X1 facelift to be launched in India on Feb 14th.
