14% VAT on MRP for spare parts in KA?

I got a air filter and back door gas shock absorber for my ZEN.This was from Maruti MGP ESSAR store on hosur road,Bangalore .

I was charged MRP + 14 % tax . Should it not be just MRP and he should adjust the 14 % in MRP in the bill ?

As per the recent taxation rule, there's 14% VAT on every product/sale; not just limited to spares but even food etc. And this is across India.

The very concept of MRP includes all government taxes and levies. 14% VAT should be adjusted within the MRP.

MRP should include all taxes. Ideally, your bill should have the actual price of the product and then the tax element should be shown separately. As far as i know,this is done to claim input tax credit, if he's eligible.

I'm no expert, but i think they're doing it wrong at the Service centre.

There can be no tax charged on MRP, whatsoever. Though, by law, service centres are supposed to present the bill with tax element clearly mentioned for each part.

Please double check the MRP printed on the packaging and the amount charged by the service centre.

I have been purchasing various spares from Essar, but the MRP is what I am ultimately charged. For examply, a wiper blade had an MRP of Rs 300. The rate in the bill was Rs 245.61 amd in the end all the taxed added up to Rs. 300. In the sme way, the set of wiper blades costed my Rs. 450, which was the sum of MRP.

Let me check the bill again .I think it should be only MRP .

Recently I changed Wiper and Side beeding from MASS and the tax was included in the MRP.
