Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 CNG

The famous 1000cc hatchback from the Maruti stable is ready to get a CNG version soon.
Now, news has emerged that nation¡¯s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. too is readying a CNG variant of its popular Alto K10 (1000cc) entry level hatchback. It may be noted that currently, only the Alto F8D (800cc) offers an option of a CNG kit. Rising petrol prices have resulted into a growing preference for diesel cars and carmakers like Honda and Maruti Suzuki, who donot have an oil burner to plonk into their popularvehicles, are facing the heat. Such manufacturers are fast resorting to offering CNG/LPG kits with their cars. The Alto K10 wouldget the CNG kit in both LXi and VXi trims and safely expect MSIL to charge a premium of Rs 50,000 over the petrol-only variants.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 CNG

With current discounts, the
- WagonR LXI CNG is 465000 OTR Mumbai
- Alto K10 LXI is 340000 OTR Mumbai
- Alto K10 VXI is 365000 OTR Mumbai

So
- Alto K10 LXI CNG, will be 400000 OTR Mumbai approx
- Alto K10 VXI CNG, will be 420000 OTR Mumbai approx

Which indicates 50000 -70000 less than Wagon R pricing. Seems it will do the trick.

Note that all near all maruti hatchbacks offer 20k additional discounts and all quoted prices as approx but close.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 CNG

Maruti is already having the technology for CNG cars, and as we have Waggie at home, can safely say its the best system integration of CNG.
Moreover, Maruti already has CNG tuning for K10 engine in the Wagon R and Estilo, so no worries for complete engineering.

Alto K10 CNG would surely bring on more numbers for Maruti, a very capable engine with a car that is quite good to drive.
Rs. 50K premium would be reduced to 40K with discounts IMO. Suzuki should try to procure 3 cylinder diesel from GM, then Maruti would simply kill off the competition. Only focusing on CNG wont help as much as a diesel could.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 CNG

Cars with CNG, LPG fuel options, really benefit in retaining petrol-like driveability & feel always alongwith the frugality of Diesel, without spending much of an extra money initially.

Btw, CNG powered cars definitely have the clear advantage in Metro cities, where CNG fuel is relatively easily available.

Maruti Suzuki is really unbelievable in covering all the viable fuel & variant options of its all the cars & that's too in best possible & feasible way.
That's why 'India always comes home in Maruti Suzuki'.
