Nissan India have introduced the Micra "Primo" Ranbir Kapoor Special Edition, which get the following features:
- Side decals on the Micra’s body;
- 2 DIN audio system with USB compatibility;
- LED lamps on the wing mirrors; &
- Parking sensors.

Here is link to Indiancarsbikes article on the special edition launch:

Well, only the Parking sensor is worth the so called "Special Edition" else nothing special.
Most of the time I personally dislike those company fitted decals, they really look very odd.

Re: Nissan launches the Micra "Primo" Special Edition

The reason for this launch would be found out from August and september sales threads. They are selling in low volume despite of having a 1.5 DCI under hood. Figo, swift i10, wagon are are doing good. and they want to catch the train with this offer.

Why is it called a "Ranbir Kapoor" special edition? Hopefully the car does not have his signature on the car as part of the decals

Re: Nissan launches the Micra "Primo" Special Edition

Ranbir's the brand ambassador for Nissan, specially the Micra. It only makes sense to devote a limited/celebration edition car under his name. Also, his image being "cool and flirty" is what the Micra Primo is trying to get at!
I can see the ladies being attracted to this offer, even more, if it has the poster boy's signature on the bonnet like the Fiat Palio Sachin Tendulkar Limited edition.

Re: Nissan launches the Micra "Primo" Special Edition

Nissan could have used a bit more imagination and launched a more powerful version of the Micra with the Sunny's turbocharger bolted on to the Micra K9k diesel. Sunny and Micra share the same engine and other aggregates including engine mounts. Also as value addition ABS should have been added [the export versions get it anyways]
Also the K9K is very frugal and a more powerful version would not have dented the FE that much. Being light in build the 85Ps Micra should have been pretty peppy too. They could have made it a limited production run , say 1000 examples. This would have been a good attempt at test marketing the potential of a more powerful Micra.
They missed the bus i guess. Wake Up Sid (Nissan)

Micra in it's current avtar is quite peppy. Drive it to believe it. This car will surprise you with the way it picks up speed on a highway. The handling is not great though (same case with all Nissans world wide. excluding the 370Z). ABS and more Airbags could have been a welcome addition. Like you said, Wake Up Sid ! Indians care for our lives too...

Re: Nissan launches the Micra "Primo" Special Edition

I thought Nissan and Renault were the only company which made ABS standard across their models there by raising the bar. Looks like Micra/Pulse are left alone.

Despite offering many class leading features not sure why they are not able to maintain a sustained sales figures. It quite odd to see some of the global car players not able to have even 5% of the market share.

Either the companies are not doing the right thing or customers are blind enough, risk averse that mostly sticking to the common players...
