Woah, great scoop. Thanks for sharing.

I love what I am seeing. If Force Motors can launch it with a competitive pricing and provide adequate support for Gurkha, this will be a great success.
Awaiting eagerly for it's launch.

This will give Thar a run for it's money.

All pics courtesy of Oncars.in and respective owners.

Being a current Gurkha owner, looking at this, is a big disappointment for me, at least at first glance. Reasons:
- Looks to be same/similar interior layout/configuration.
- Minimal change to body panels/design
- Minor and non-functional changes to the front
- Stupid grab rails on top
-235/70/16 tyres mean lower GC than the original Gurkha, which is bad!

The only thing that can redeem this is if it comes with the OM611 engine, and still manages to deliver low end torque and crawl. And of course, Diff Locks are a must!

If this is what Force think of delivering 2013/2014, then this is a NO GO!

This is indeed great news, the OM611 TRAX Gurkha has been long awaited. The Thar never appealed to me, but this one does. Just hope that Force does not do away with the locking diff's and add ABS to the package.

No Indian car maker seems to have grasped the simple truth that available parts and good service sell cars. They are not a separate line item by themselves in any practical accounting application. Maruti-Suzuki knew this long ago. "Force" has been squandering its relation with quality partner Mercedes by not upgrading its customer support. I wonder if Mercedes will tolerate this much longer.

This is almost the same vehicle which I had seen a couple of days back albiet with lesser camouflage.

The wheels on that one appeared bigger than this one and they where steel rims. It did not have the snorkel. Also, the wheel arcs were not raised ones. Do you call them flarred wheel arcs?

The size of the vehicle on the other hand appears almost the same, with a quite short rear overhang.

If Force can bring this out at competetive pricing, I am quite sure this vehicle can bite into the sales of Thar a bit. Of course the image of Force and the almost next to nill service stations are a concern!

Still keeping an eye to spot one of those and take a pic.

Cheers!

Mod Note : Moved to the Indian Car Scene so that the non-4x4 folk don't miss this thread either.

Hope the OM611 and the new gear box will be offered. Also brakes need to be upgraded for this car, especially considering the engine upgrade.

And servicing and spares availability need to be improved. As much as I do not appreciate the Thar (lack of diff locks prime reason), Force cannot hold a candle to M&M when it comes to servicing and spares. So I do not think this will bite into thar sales.

Also I hope they offer it with out the snorkel. It is non functional and the electronics will fry far before water gets to the air filter level.

But over all I am happy that this product is out again.

Notice that the second row seats are almost directly over the rear wheels. Perhaps a bumpy ride???
Also they have replaced the second row windows with sliding ones as this design does not allow the windows to move down within the door. I haven't seen many cars with that kind of windows recently.

The current Gurkha rides well, eats up bad roads without throwing people around. I have experienced middle row in Roy_libran's current gen Gurkha. Rides better than most Desi SUVs

Nice scoop. Force should have given this the preference over Force One. At the right price and equipment, the Gurkha will work.

I am truly baffled at the number of Thars on the road for all its deficiencies and high asking price.

I see scoop video listed in the title. Where is that?

Nice scoop.
The Gurkha is surely capable of drilling a hole in the sales charts of the Mahindra Thar owing to its superb image among offroaders. I just hope Force Motors price it sensibly and provide adequate after sales service and support for the Gurkha.

BTW, the title of this thread says " SCOOP Pics & Video - 2013 Force Gurkha" but I was not able to find any video. Is their something I am missing?:p

EDIT: Just saw that deetjohn defeated me in posting about the absence of scoop video. :D

Insider info OM611 wont be offered for Gurkha.. its a relaunch with some changes to... but power has increased.. i will confirm which engine is going to be used...looks are better... major changes in 4x4 module.. expected launch by December 2012 or January 2013.

Thanks Satya.....Force could have taken some design cues from the G-Wagen........
