Automobile sales are down in the month of november. Companies have sent S.O.S to Govt.

http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/cnb...59.html#toptag

Reason: Lack of demand.
Requested the government to reduce the excise duty.

Pushing the thread up as a reminder to Moderators GTO & Jalsa. please: dont delete this post.

Now the wait has started for November 2012 Sales thread.

Moneycontrol says: Sales are dull. Tata stopped production for 3 days. Same is the case with VW.

Maruti says: Sales are up. 40K bookings for Alto800

Honda 2 wheeler says: 50K sales on Diwali day.

HeroMoto says: Sales are dull. plant closed for 6 days or so.

Who is correct? Only the Team Bhp sales charts will reveal the correct picture. GTO would you please post your analysis too with the charts.

Regular car sales slowing while luxury car sales are scaling up ?!
Now the total number of luxury cars is minuscule compared to usual mass market cars, but it does suggest either a slow upward shift in income, or that same number wealthy are getting richer (hence buying more cars ).

For aspiring badge-seekers, might be a good time to look up pre-owned Merc/BMW/Audi deals.

EDIT: of the mass market cars, only Maruti growing , I should add up the lost sales from other makes to compare to Maruti's increasing sales, maybe it represents a case of people switching brands to Maruti in wake of rising fuel costs - thus not so much as a net drop of sales as a shift in brand preference.

Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 1,03,200 units in November 2012, a growth of 12.5 per cent. This includes 12,318 units for export. The Company had sold a total of 91,772 units in November 2011.

You can safely add M&M to this as well :).

New Delhi, Dec 1:

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today reported a 26 per cent decline in sales at 10,352 units during November 2012. It had sold 13,956 units in the same month last year, TKM said in a statement.

TKM, a joint venture between Japan’s Toyota Motor Corp and the Kirloskar Group, said sales growth fell due to the shutdown of a plant to ramp up annual production.

“The sales have dropped this month due to a plant shutdown to ramp up the annual production capacity from 2,10,000 units to 3,10,00 units for the next calendar year,” TKM Deputy Managing Director Marketing Sandeep Singh said in a statement.

The first plant manufacturing the Innova and Fortuner was shut down for a week and the second plant manufacturing Etios, Etios Liva and Camry was shut down for 15 days, he added.

“The market is yet to pick up pace. We hope to see growth next month due to the year-ending sales. The market is expected to grow in the first quarter of next year,” Singh said.

TKM’s Etios series registered a 48.8 per cent decline in sales during the month at 4,231 units compared to 8,271 units in November 2011.

Sales of the Innova stood at 4,682 units last month against 4,308 units in November last year, a growth of 9 per cent.

Sales of the Fortuner were at 1,025 units compared with 860 units in November last year, up 19 per cent.

Camry sales stood at 46 units in November, while that of the Corolla Altis stood at 362 units, TKM said.

The company’s domestic sales stood at 46755 units during November 2012, as against 38159 units during November 2011, an increase of 23%. With Ertiga clocking 7000+ units last month, I can see it blowing other MPVs that ruled the roost out of the water! Kudos to MSIL for the achievement! clap:

The country’s second-largest car maker Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Saturday reported 2.29 per cent fall in total sales at 55,762 units in November.

Mahindra is the star of the month, while Tata is hit by their inability to launch competent models.
Seems like Wagon R is severely hit by new Alto 800!

Mahindra is the Rajikanth of Indian Automotive industry lol: (No Offence meant)
They are selling like CRAZY. The market slowdown is not showing up in their charts. I know that Mahindra's top management has gone mad with DUSTER launch but still they are pushing more volumes. Bolero is one UV which is a significant contributor to their charts followed by XUV.

Does anyone know of the exact sales figures for Quanto & Verito from Mahindra?

It is already the third day of the month & we are yet to see the Monthly sales figures thread for Nov 2012. I believe this delay is because GTO does not want to repeat last months strategy of doing away with the "Movers & Shakers" a la "Sales Analysis" part. We sorely missed it last time (as if we were having ginger tea, without the ginger in it). In his own words "Quality takes time", so expecting the thread to come up soon with the much deserved analysis.
