Suzuki all set to make India, its small car hub

Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) plans to shift the production base for its small cars to India.
SMC’s main production base, in Hamamatsu, Japan, will then cater exclusively to the home market.

Confirming the development, Maruti Suzuki India chairman RC Bhargava said, “Small and large car exports from Japan have already become uncompetitive because of the appreciating yen so Suzuki is instead shifting small car production to India.”

It was kind of expected, but good news nevertheless. I suppose this would result in a slightly stronger rupee as well.

Now MSIL, since India is going to be making export-ready cars anyway, please give us better equipped cars. I just want European spec Swift and SX4 here in India. And if there is still room for negotiations, please offer all-black interiors in all cars as an alternative to the ugly overrated beige crap.
