The Jaguar XJ Ultimate goes on sale in India today.

Based on the long-wheelbase XJ, interior changes applied to the Ultimate focus on rear seat passengers. A full-length, leather-trimmed center console separates the two individual rear seats which feature electric adjustment, ventilation, massage and lumbar functions. A table, machined from solid aluminium, rises up from the center console at the touch of a button to provide a working area. There are also two iPads with wireless keyboards housed in leather docks at the rear of the front seats. The "seth" positioned behind the front passenger seat has a stow-away button that automatically powers the empty chair forward, to increase legroom.

The full rear seat package includes twin 8” screens, wireless headphones and a 20-speaker in-car-entertainment system developed by Meridian. The XJ Ultimate undergoes revisions to its air suspension to optimise rear ride comfort.

Exterior changes are limited to chromed lower air intakes, stainless steel exhaust finishers, dual-surfaced 20” alloy wheels and the ‘Ultimate’ badge.

The XJ Ultimate is available with Jaguar’s 5.0-liter V8 supercharged petrol (503 BHP) and the more practical 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged diesel (271 BHP), both mated to an eight-speed transmission.

Now this is some SERIOUS luxury coupled with STYLE.

This easily would be the MOST LUXURIOUS JAG ever

& Jaguar does it " Like a BOSS "

Also IIRC this has an revised suspension setting to optimize the rear seat ride comfort.

Wow one can just about imagine the comfort in the rear seat from the specs.

50L+ per seat.

The Seth gets a seat as good as the Driver.

Somehow though that may not be the case the rear seats itself seemed narrow in the snap, could be the angle as that should not be the case and the centre console does not seem too wide.

I guess for the segment the 5.0 V8 Petrol may sell more than the 3.0 Diesel even considering the cost differential in fuel and effeciency. The segment is maybe not all about being practical.

If the prices are ex-showroom, then these compete head on with the Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Not sure if the badge conscious people would prefer this over the Bentley.

Also, these over-priced limited editions depreciate disastrously but guess this segment buyers don't mind this factor too much.

At these prices, one should definitely go for the petrol for the refinement and power. One should be fine filling up an extra time due to a lower range. It should not be too much of a bother as the chauffeur can fill up during a break in a long distance tour.

I doubt that these would be taken for long distance tours. The people buying this would take their corporate jets for long distance

Actually the Flying Spur is more like 2.3-2.5 ex-showroom.

This car car its own niche, definitely. It will be interesting to see how they sell.
