Indica V2 Turbo DLS

I just came to know through another thread in reviews section, that TATA has launched the DLS model of Indica Turbo.

Whats interesting is that, both power and torque figures are below that of DLG and DLX turbo models. It develops only 62bhp and 12.5kgm as opposed to 68bhp and 13kgm of DLG/DLX.
Does that mean it uses the engine of the old EII Indigo? If i am not mistaken, the EII Indigo doesnt have the intercooler.

So now we have 3 different Diesel Indicas!.. normal, turbo without intercooler, and Turbo with intercooler!

EDIT: Even the wheel diameters are different.

Regarding wheel size, my GUESS is that TATA went from 165/65-R14 for the DLG/DLX to 165/65-R13 for the newer DLS after receiving complaints about the handling characteristics of the DLG/DLX. In other words, I don't think that the more powerful DLG/DLX have optimal tyres, given that the lower rim dia was preferred for the DLS version with the same tyre width and profile.

Secondly, one reason for the reduced power output might be that the DLS has a more optimized fuel economy and maybe improved emission standards. It would be interesting to see the peformance details (0-100, top speed, etc.) of these variants.

I have heard that Tata is going to discontinue the non-turbo Indica by the end of the next month. The Turbo Indica is better at performance, accepted. But people who bought Indica never considered its power, they were looking for good FE.

What I see it, Tata will fit this DLS engine (62PS) in all variants and will discontinue the non-turbo Indica. The DLS seems a good balance of power and FE.

Of course, dude! Its inevitable. Have a look at this comparison.

I don't find any other reason for this step, maybe they have reduced some noise too.
