hi friends this is my first thread. i own a m800 for past 6 years and it gave an average of 12km/L in the beginning ,but for the past 2 years it is giving an average of 8- 10 L. it has covered 14000km and its clutch has been replaced 6 times. our local workshop owner says it is normal for a m800 as its clutch is of low quality. can u please suggest on it and can anybody tell the average of m8oo they are getting. also i have got a swift 6 months ago and it is giving an average of 10km/L. its the lowest model. one of our neighbours driver told me that they get an average of 17km/L ( his is the top end version and 3 months old). he also told me that there is some difference in the average of low end model and high end model. is it true. plz throw some light on the topic.

please:do sort out my doubt.

One of my friend gota M800, He is getting 17 in City, For 800 milage of 8 is very very less, even a zen gives around 13-14.

Why dont u check out at some Maruti Showroom rather then local mechanic. ?

dude coolaks7 your car needs to go to the maruti authorized service station as soon as possible. And give the mechanic who told u that the clutch of the 800 is of low quality a punch on his face.I have an 800 too a 1998 carbureted model it has run 63000 km till now and my OE clutch lasted for about 46000 km and it would have lasted more if it were not for the wheel spinning and abuse it was put to.I assume u are telling the mileage is 12km/liter with ac on right?well that itself i pretty low considering that its an 800 and 7 to 8 km/liter is out of question.
About the mileage i am getting i am getting around 15 to 16 km/liter in the city with ac and without ac i get around 18 in the city and on the highways its 19 km/liter with ac and without ac around 21 to 22.
10km/liter on the swift can be considered ok and maybe your neighbours driver said 17km/liter on the highway and he must be drivin with a very light foot.Get your 800 checked at the authorized maruti showroom and iif u are resting your foot on the clutch pedel quit doing what

I too have an 800, the worst ever i have got is 12kmpl and that too with the accelerator pedal pressed all the way to the floor! That apart i also do get the same FE figures as humyum pretty regularly, as long as the engine is in a good state of tune - so i guess best thing would be to ditch the friendly neighbourhood mechanic and go to a MASS having good reputation(yes there are some pretty bad ones too!)

hey yaar my car is non ac and about swift also i am talking with ac turned off. my father overuse the clutch but mainly it is driven by me. my father drives once in a week only
and that too for long distance. i am really worried about my car and more for my pocket as it is burning holes in my pocket.

Dude overusing the clutch is very bad.Eats up the clutch plates pretty fast and as u said that u have changed the clutch( I assume u mean the clutch plates)6 times in 14000 km i guess your dad would be using the clutch pretty bad.Go to a maruti authorized service station and give it for service as well as tell him the mileage and tell him to check the entire car and what needs to be replaced. He will guide u properly.800 is a good car and if taken care properly will give u good mileage along with driving pleasure

Dude 6 clutchs in 14000kms? You need to learn how to drive! Even the 800 clutch lasts 30-40000kms easily. I hope you didnt mean 140000kms.
As for the mileage, top end and low end models of swift will give same mileage when driven the same.
I suggest you dont rev to hard, dont ride the clutch, and if possible take a ride with your neighbour and see how he drives to get such fantastic mileage.

are u drivind the car with your clutch as a foot rest or some thing? clutch replaced 6 times?
omg...
you will have to change your driving habbits i guess...

hey mod tsk1979 and nevertouchme. i would not have asked such a silly question if there were any problem with my driving habit. i drive quite nice and even the mechanic and the driver has also told me that i drive fine. sometimes i drive my 800 rash but not my swift. thats why i am little worried as the driving style is fine but still the clutch needs to be changed soon. even the authorised service centre mechanics are unable to find the fault. also my 800's gears are very hard as compared to other m800.

cool aks

my car (euro III AC maruti 800) gives me 17+ in the city always. i dont use at all. only about 5-10%. even with it i get about 15 atleast.

you can go ahead and check your options of filing a case. you might get a new vehicle !! if you produce all bills receipts properly.

Srik

M800 - 19.6kmpl with the A/C on.

Isn't the Maruti 800's fuel consumption supposed to be like the hybrid cars?:p
Just kidding.
For my parents, it's 13-14 kmpl with the AC on and 15-16 otherwise.
Btw, it's a 1999 carburetted Maruti 800.

Hey buddy,

In maruthi swift there is only one engine for all their variants as of now.
So ur lower end swift engine is same as ur neighbours high end swift.

My Honda city gives better mileage then your M800. I am sure there is some problem with your car, kind of fuel you are using or your driving style. My NHC gives me 13.5 KMPL with 90% AC on and about 15 without AC so your M800 should give you better mileage. My friend has 1995 M800 and he gets about 17-18kmpl without AC (it has no AC).

Coolaks7, pls confirm this. Could not even imagine clutch getting replaced 6 times within 14000 kms of running. What model is that Maruti 800
