Spotted: Nissan Navara Pickup

I saw a couple of Nissan Navara trucks (also called Nissan Frontier in some markets) today on a trailer truck between Topchanchi and Govindpur in Jharkhand. The cars had proper badging and were unregistered, so not really sure if these are test vehicles.

I had a chat with the driver of the trailer who said the cars were on their way to Delhi from Kolkata. The driver had no clue if it was a test vehicle or not.

Since these trucks were unregistered, I doubt if these have been brought down from Bhutan or somewhere else.

I really doubt the possibility of Nissan launching the Navara in our market but then are these trucks possibly test mules for the Pathfinder or the Patrol?

On their way to Nepal most likely.

They could be imports by some organization at CCU as well. Tough to deduce their intent of import but they are not test mules, else they would have been imported to Chennai.

re: Spotted: Nissan Navara Pickup

These are most likely imports. Though cars for Nepal and Bhutan do pass through India and generally arrive at Kolkata, but they would not go to Delhi.

Cars heading to Delhi will probably mean these have been imported for the use of embassies, or some international organisations like the UN or its various sub-institutions. I doubt embassies have much use of pick-up trucks, while orgaanisations like the UN will probably want to use something like this.

I've seen some of the Nissan pickups doing duties for Consulates in Mumbai with blue reg-plates. This could be for same purpose.

re: Spotted: Nissan Navara Pickup

at the outset the Frontier is for sure any type model of a vehicle that is sold currently in Malaysia and TH. They are not the same.

I drive one of these monsters to work every day and believe me, this is one real monster truck and reasonably priced too.

With 174Ps of Power this is sure to be one hell of a vehicle off road, the only issue I see is with the rear overhang.

Fit and finish seems to be up to the mark even for a pick up. Please see the chrome rear bumpers, which wont lose shine easily. Answers why things from Phoren are better.

Re: Spotted: Nissan Navara Pickup

Any reason why this couldn't be for the Indian market?

I don't see anyone even remotely suggesting that Nissan could look at testing this vehicle for launch in India.. just curious why. Given how popular the Tata pick-up trucks are, I'm sure there's enough market room.

I'm just guessing here. But this Navara is a couple of years old model (>5 for sure), and I would imagine a refresh is due anytime soon. So, if entering a new market, would it not make sense to come in with a new model?

Of course, Indian market is subject to all kinds of model lineups based on some unfathomable reasoning, so I could be dead wrong.

Cheers.

Re: Spotted: Nissan Navara Pickup

If some one noticed or not, there is a note on a white paper on the rear windscreen of the first pickup!

I tried to zoom in to read what it say, but its not clear enough to read it.

Anyway vehicles going to Nepal or Bhutan go from Kolkata directly, they don't come to Delhi.

These vehicles could be for some Embassy, NGO or some UN organisation.

Re: Spotted: Nissan Navara Pickup

Spotted this a couple months ago in the parking lot of a mall in south Delhi. Couldn't post it back then as I wasn't registered. Seemed like a newer gen or a facelifted version of the one uploaded in 2013. The build quality seemed tough. I think it was driven in India from a neighbouring country where this particular truck is sold.(my wild assumption).

This appears as a Bhutan registered Nissan and from looks, appears it has been just driven from somewhere. A nice motorhome for a couple.

Registration plates in Devnagari script are unique to Nepal, Bhutan uses English alphabets. This particular car belonging to Bagmati (ba) region.

Re: Spotted: Nissan Navara Pickup

After more than 15 years on the market with only minor styling tweaks, the Nissan Frontier / Navara receives a notable revision for the 2021 model year. The 2021 model will carry over the outgoing truck's 3.8-liter V-6 and nine-speed automatic transmission.
