Mod Note: Our Aspire Review has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!

Ford of Brazil is putting the final touches to the B-562, a replacement to the Ford Figo hatchback. The next-generation 2014 Ford Figo will go on sale in Brazil next year, after which it is likely to be launched in India as well. The 2014 Figo, as detailed in our previous report, will use a modified platform of the current model. Also, the new Figo platform will play host to a compact sedan, a car that will replace the Classic sedan in India.

TheTruthAboutCars is carrying spyshots of what seems to be the compact sedan version of the 2014 Figo. The three giveaways supporting this assertion are the headlamps, the hexagonal grille and the wing mirrors of the purported Figo-based compact sedan. These parts are similar to those seen on the test mules of the Figo hatchback. Since the test mule is completely camouflaged, there is no other way to confirm. Notably, the test mule of the sedan was spotted in suburban Detroit, regular testing ground for new cars.

The spyshots of the test mule also depict a high rear end, a-la-new Fiesta sedan, and a size that's roughly comparable to that of the Chevrolet Sail sedan. Apart from the Sail sedan, the Figo-based compact sedan's rivals in the Indian car market would include the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the Honda Amaze and the Tata Manza. The new Figo hatchback is likely to replace the Ka globally, as Ford's new entry level hatchback.

On a similar note, expect the Figo-based sedan to be offered in emerging markets as the car maker's entry-level sedan. Like it hatchback sibling, the Figo compact sedan could be powered by the 1 liter EcoBoost turbo petrol and the 1.5 liter TDCI turbo diesel engines. Both engines will get manual 5 speed gearboxes as standard while the petrol variant could also be offered with an automatic gearbox. With the first test mules spotted, the Figo-based compact sedan might well be its way to serial production.

I have found a source from which I have gathered images and news related to what could be the compact sedan for ford in India. The headlamps seem to show a lot of resemblance to the spyshots and chances are that the Fiesta Classic could be replaced by a Figo based sedan.

The rear should look like the Mondeo they sold in India! What a classy car it was!!

Aside: This is India's contribution to the automative world! Tribute to PC's sub-4meter vision :)

Hope the germans also line up some stuff!!

If you look at the picture 2, i.e. the side profile of the car, you can notice how the rear headlamps looks similar to Ford Mondeo. Overall the design looks like a combination of Fiesta Classic with Figo's headlamps (extended) and rear headlamps similar to Mondeo (cut short)

The Figo is based on the Mark V Fiesta platform, aka Classic which is already on sale in India. The Classic is 4.28 meters in length; this car - atleast from the spy pics - seems to be longer than 4 meters too.

Why the hassle? Build a hatchback (Figo) off a sedan....and then, build a sedan based on the same hatchback? :Shockked:

Something isn't adding up here.

I guess the current Figo / Fiesta platform is too old now and from what I read online, the next generation Ford Ka / Figo is going to use a modified version of the current Figo platform wherein it will be made lighter.

This new platform will spawn the new Figo for developing markets and a new sub 4m sedan which can replace the Classic here in India.

If they try to cut the current Classic to under 4m, it won't work too well since the car already feels dated. They need something totally new.

Why do I always feel that the Ford sedans are narrow when seen from the rear? The New Fiesta is narrow when compared to competition, it also looks the narrow on the road. This hampers the rear seat width.
I wish they keep it above 4m so as not to reduce the leg room.

Well Ford has definitely turned heads with their Eco Sport and they have been successful in holding their share in the market with the Figo and Fiesta Classic.
Let’s wait and see if they can get the formula right again for our market and hope they consider the learning from the failure of the new Fiesta.

Fiesta(old)/Classic numbers are going down because its outdated, not because its 60k costlier or more than 4m. They should target the audience who need a sedan with proper shape and around 4.2m length which should be easier than trying to fight a battle that was lost before it started. They could get the better numbers if they launch a new sedan with proper shape.

Ford already has a good looking sub 4m car - Ecosport. They cannot pitch a sub 4m compact sedan as VFM without bashing Ecosport. With a proper sedan, it wouldn't have to compete with its sibling.

They should look at a sub 4m hatch (new Figo) and a proper sedan that shares the parts with it. Doesn't matter which one of them is parent/child. They cannot compete directly with MSIL, Hyundai and Honda in CS segment but they may be able to eat from that same pie by giving alternatives like a compact SUV and proper sedan at similar price.

Looks quiet old design wise. At least the shape and body lines look old.
And considering that this thing is going to battle it out with the likes of DZire/Amaze and upcoming Hyundai sedan in this segment, Ford need to be spot on with pricing and features offered if at all this is launched here.

Looks like they found a way to build 'cheaper' hatchback from a sedan and then realized since they now have a 'cheaper' to build hatchback why not build a 'cheaper' sedan

And moreover they want to replicate market leaders i.e. Hatch+Boot = Sedan

:OT
Brand wise boot job cost
Maruti Suzuki Swift LXi --> 4.58 lakhs
Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire LXI --> 5.03 lakhs
Difference : ~ 50K

Honda Brio E MT --> 4.16 lakhs
Honda Amaze 1.2 EMT i-VTEC --> 5.15 lakhs
Difference : ~ 1 Lakh

Toyota Etios Liva JD --> 5.81 lakhs
Toyota Etios JD --> 6.77 lakhs
Difference : ~ 2 Lakhs :Shockked:

Ford Figo Duratorq Diesel LXI 1.4 ---> 4.96 lakhs
Ford Classic 1.4 TDCi LXi ---> 6.93 lakhs
Difference : ~ 2 Lakhs

The pictures posted by Motoroids is the MarkV Fiesta that was facelifted for the Brazilian market as New Fiesta Rocam. I dont think this platform is going to be given any more life in future in India or anywhere as Ford is moving towards global platforms for their lineup of cars.

The car being spotted as the Figo generation looks like a new platform and as the OP of this thread says, its going to be a global B segment car in both hatch/sedan avatar.

To me the above looks more like a Rs. 96,000/- difference! Typo?

Probably this is the slot they are expecting to fill with the new car. Fiesta Classic was priced to be a flop, from day one!

My bad. It was a typo! Admin please correct if possible.
Also this '':Shockked:" expression was for the Ford hatch sedan difference.

Hahaha....thats exactly the first thing that struck me.

Actually lets go one more step back.

They created the Fiesta sedan for India (now called Classic) by adding a boot to the European Mk4 Fiesta hatch.

Then chopped the Fiesta sedan and cheapened it to make the Figo hatch.

Now they want to make a sedan again. Are they trying to create jobs?
