Ferrari to offer warranty for 12 years!

Amidst horror stories of car manufacturers ill treating their customers, this one is a refresher.

Ferrari announces yet another first for an automotive manufacturer:
Extended warranty cover that offers peace of mind for owners of Ferraris up to the 12th year of the vehicle’s life.

Starting May 1, the high-end automaker will implement a two-part warranty program.
Owners can add two years to the standard three-year manufacturer's warranty, or they can opt for a "new power warranty," renewable every year until 12 years after the car's registration.

All new Ferraris come with a free, seven-year Genuine Maintenance program.

Re: Ferrari to offer warranty for 12 years!

Its not only High end car-makers who're ill-treating customers, but at every level, for every segment. Dealers & service centers are often found trying to fleece people under some pretext or the other.

Car makers may not be able to provide exactly such benefits, but they should definitely try something in similar effect.

Customers today are more far-sighted & demanding than they ever were. We're also more willing to spend time keeping the car in good shape than before as we're more connected & aware about how to maintain them.

For Ex. Toyota's sales figures for Innova are an example of the demand for cars that are reliable for long-term use.

IMO its a matter of time when regular car-makers start providing atleast Annual Maintenance Contracts post the 5th year, if not extendable warranty.

Such a move will increase resale values of our old cars and also prevent wastage as it would turn abit more economical to continue using those cars.

Very brave move by Ferrari there. How I wish every car maker can show the same amount of courage and confidence in there products. It would make owning cars specially the luxury ones so much more stress free.

Fantastic move! But I, personally, don't think this is possible to implement in other segments purely because of the larger volumes involved.

Re: Ferrari to offer warranty for 12 years!

Warranty is a very vague term! From what I'm aware of, its a mere eyewash because each warranty agreement can have lots of fine print which most customers seldom read but fall in to believing the company would give 'free replacements'.

Here's to some better understanding on warranty: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warranty#Car_warranty
