Scheme: Buy a BMW 1-Series for just Rs. 555 per day

Guys,

Came across information on NDTV AUTO NEWS.

BMW Financial Services has announced a lucrative offer under which one can buy the 1 Series for just Rs. 555 per day. The scheme, however, is available only for a limited period. This scheme is applicable on all the variants of the model.

Under this EMI scheme, a buyer will have to pay a down payment of Rs. 8 lakh - 10 lakh for BMW's cheapest offering in the Indian market. As part the 7 years' EMI scheme, the buyer will be asked to pay Rs. 555/day for 11 months and Rs. 1.5 lakh every 12th month.

Cheers.

This is a great offer I think.. compared to the 555 per day offer which is nothing but a marketing stunt. (Really it works out to be 27K per month with a down payment of 8-10L for a 1 series car.)

re: Scheme: Buy a BMW 1-Series for just Rs. 555 per day

I think we need to start a new thread on absolutely misleading advertisements! There was an ad going on for Ford Figo, citing you could own the car in just 15 mins with Zero down payment. Out of sheer curiosity and to know what the catch is, I rang up the sales executive who tried to convince me that this is a limited period offer for salaried individuals who possess previous 3 years form 16, and a very lucrative deal out of Ford's collaboration with HDFC. He insisted on visiting me in person and offer the car for a test drive. I put my foot down and asked again, "Are you sure that this is truly a ZERO down payment scheme? Is there no catch at all?". And then finally, he somehow manages to say that the offer provides 100% funding on the ex-showroom cost! Now, this is no new offer. Nationalized banks have been giving funding ranging from 85% - 90% of OTR, and HDFC has always given 100% ex-showroom funding. Both equate into the same scenario. This is no new offer, and neither do they mean zero down payment. Purely a marketing gimmick. I was seriously contemplating if such cases of blatant cheating the common man, with a *conditions applicable clause, can be taken to the court? I really feel we should have stricter laws for consumer protection, like they have in the US.

+1 to this.

The ad in itself is idiotic where the person says I am buying a car and will be back in 15 mins. Come on, who are they trying to fool?

You are absolutely right, Unless the laws are strict, people will always find ways and means to tweak/bend them to mislead the common people. High time something is done about them.

The idea of a thread that shreds these marketing gimmicks to pieces is fantastic. We should start one immediately. First post should be on this 555 a day offer.

Recently watched TG UK where they compared the Beemer 1 and the VW Golf GTi.

I think the Golf ran rings around the Beemer in every which way possible.

Now I wish that they would bring that lovely Golf into India.

Since Im a hatch aficionado, I would certainly like to buy one! Especially the fully loaded version!

Was it the one in which Jeremy spins off in the bmw??? I think that spin had a decisive effect on the outcome of that review. Before his spin he was all praise for the 135i.

Jokes apart, the 135i seems to have a cult following in Europe being the only hatchback with 6 cylinders and rear wheel drive. I doubt the golf gti is better than it.

Did it mention the tenure of the loan? Emi of 3.6 lakhs per year must be at least for 10-12 years!??

I concur. The 135i would be a hoot to drive.

I think the marketing "gimmick" if you might call it that, does draw your attention to the product and starts you thinking.

That said shouldn't this thread be merged with this other one here?
