I saw 4 brown colored XZ variants of Tigor yesterday at TASS. The cars looked well proportionate and definitely best in class. The only issue I foresee is this car doesn't look like a 'sedan' and considering our liking for so called sedans, people might not go for them.
According to timer @official website (
https://tigor.tatamotors.com/) the launch will start from 11:30.
THE STYLEBACK LAUNCH WEBCAST BEGINS IN

No it hasn't, even I have been checking constantly from 11.30 am
How i wish they had launched AMT at the initial stage itself.
If Tiago has it already, it means Tata had enough time to test it with Tigor as the engines are the same.
Weird strategy adopted :deadhorse
Both engines come with balancer shafts.
4 variants on offer - XE, XT, XZ & XZ(O).

All prices, ex-showroom Delhi.

(
Zigwheels)
Petrol:
XE - 4.70 lakhs,
XT - 5.41 lakhs,
XZ - 5.90 lakhs,
XZ(O) - 6.19 lakhs.
Diesel:
XE - 5.60 lakhs,
XT - 6.31 lakhs,
XZ - 6.80 lakhs,
XZ(O) - 7.09 lakhs.
Here's how the Tata Tigor stacks up against it's immediate competition:

(
WhatCar India)
A premium of ~Rs 90,000 between both fuel types, and the same ~Rs 90,000 between the Tiago & the Tigor's equivalent variants.
While at first glance it might seem to be a bit on the higher side, that premium is asked for a 3-box sedan with a boot, and a balancer shaft. Not to mention the goodies which the Tigor gets over the Tiago - climate control, reversing camera, etc.
Also, don't forget, the Tigor is a full lakh-rupees less than it's nearest competitiors for now.
The car could have been priced 15K-20K lesser, but then Tata would have been taking the price rise after April 2017 into account. Let's see how this translates into sales now.

Even the lowest variant has an aircon, thankfully, unlike the Tiago's lowest variant which came with only a blower.
Looking at the feature list, the XT ticks all boxes except for airbags.
Would be interesting to see how they price the XT variant.
Anything under 5.5L on road even if only as an introductory price, would make it fly off the shelves I guess.
EDIT : Wishful thinking, the XT is between 5.4 and 5.8L ex-showroom across different cities.
On road might come to around 7L, which would make it uncomfortably close to the Zest.
I was expecting a more significant price difference between the two
Starting at 4.70 lakh.. petrol XZ (O) at 619000 and diesel at 7.09. I feel it's on the higher side.
With Tiago top model the difference stands at 1.2 lakh for Petrol and 1.3 lakh for diesel. That's more than what I anticipated. Shouldn't have been more than 60-70k difference. With an average diesel engine, for me it's overpriced. Disappointed.
Suddenly, Figo D Titanium at 6.66 ex showroom starts making more sense.

XB variant of Tiago comes only with blower, the XE comes with A/C, XE is the base variant of the Tigor and hence it has the A/C (no XB variant for Tigor)
This is one launch I've been eagerly awaiting! XZ(o) 6.19L Delhi.
Price is slightly higher than expected starting at 4.7 lakhs. If it could have started 4.5 lakhs, would have really been impressive. With the current pricing, while good, the upcoming Dzire, Xcent starting at around 5.2 lakhs, even Amaze after discounts wouldn't be too far in emi terms, and those brands have better pull and better engines than Tata.
Higher variants, in particular XT and XZ(O) are better priced though.
We love our Indian manufacturers for the sheer value for money quotient they bring to the picture, but pricing the under-powered diesel engine with poor NVH 90k over the petrol engine is ridiculous. The compact sedan has offerings from pretty much every manufacturer out there and Tata could have priced the petrol variant around 20k less and diesel around 30-40k less.
Where does this leave the Zest, I wonder. Between comparable variants of the Zest and Tigor, there would hardly be a price difference of 20 to 30K and given a choice, a customer would prefer to buy a newer model than a 3 year old one.
Till the rumoured Zest facelift comes along, there might be much sales of the Zest now
