Renault reduces prices of Duster as per news and an ad in the newspaper.
The RXE model which was earlier priced at 8.3 L ex showroom is now Rs 7.99 L ex show room.
The website shows rate of Rs 7.99 L on the main page but rates not revised on the models page. Will have to wait to get the new pricing.
Just one month after launch of the new generation Duster they reduce rates.
Whats happening ? Getting ready for the S Cross onslaught or is the demand and supply situation skewed ?

Maybe market dynamics as you mentioned. Could also be a function of exchange rate movements in the last 3 months. Car would have quite a few parts that are imported from Europe and priced in EUR, the sudden depreciation of the EUR will reduce the cost of manufacturing.

Manufacturers revise rates upwards due to dollar or euro fluctuations, but I don't think they will reduce prices due to exchange rate changes. They will be more than happy to pocket the extra profits. This seems to be either due to low demand, competition or more likey they are trying to make space for the Renault Lodgy above the Duster (for comparable specs) and below the Innova.

Renault may be trying to create enough space (price gap) between Duster and yet to be launched Lodgy. Also, as BHPian nkghai said earlier, preparing for Scross launch could be possibility. Interesting times ahead!

Yes. Renault India should do some thing to promote the sales figures of Duster as it is the only one that sells around 3000 a month. That too the sales graph is slowly coming down. The other products like Sunny are already low in sales. They are not going to anything to change the look of the interior of Duster, as the sales in India is well below 50K a year. Let them at least make the price better. Having said all that no SUV can beat Duster in the pleasure one gets in driving it in Indian roads.

It is ideal for customers and us enthusiasts if any reduction is passed on and prices are lowered, say even to promote the vehicle. Another probable cause as pointed out by Starry Sky is the Duster price placement via a vis the Lodgy.
What I was wondering was that the gap between Duster and Terrano as far as pricing is concerned now increases further. So either Nissan takes a hit or we expect a similar reduction from them too.

If true, this is proof that the Lodgy will be positioned above the Duster. Its launch is day after, on the 9th of April. Looks like Renault's way of keeping a little space between the two cars that are similar in so many ways, yet serve different purposes.

It will also make a part of the dealer discounts official.

It is quite surprising that a company like Renault does not place correct data on website.
Today morning , i saw a huge ad in TOI Raipur edition, announcing Renault Duster now available at 7.99 Lakhs , with all the features of new generation Duster also highlighted.
So visited the website again, however except on the main web page, where this pricing is cited, their price thread and the models page still remain unchanged.
Come on, this is not acceptable. It is 36 hrs now that you announced this reduction. Why cant your model page and pricing page be amended.
Maybe Renault is too busy in Lodgy launch, but they should not forget, that Duster is the one which established it in India and should not be ignored.
