Maruti ordered to pay Rs. 80,000 for selling a defective Swift diesel

As per a recent article on the Hindustan Times, Maruti was directed to pay out 80K for selling a defective Swift Diesel. The full article can be read here:

It's good to see that the consumer gets what he paid for and is not being taken for a ride by these huge money spinning corporates. Replacing the engine block is something serious and thankfully the consumer forum ruled in favor of the consumer, unlike the case (which was a hot thread on TBHP) where a Honda Amaze engine seized due to a crack in the oil sump (which clearly looks like a manufacturing problem and Honda was not willing to acknowledge the same).

On a side note - ironically, the car was being driven to Leh. Watch out those who are planning to drive to Leh this year! .. Just Kidding!
