Next-gen Audi R8 V10 coming to India in 2016

The second-generation Audi R8 V10 can now be ordered in European markets. Deliveries of the car will begin in autumn.

The car comes in two variants - R8 V10 and R8 V10 Plus. Both variants have a 5,204cc, V10 petrol engine and a 7-speed S Tronic automatic transmission. In the R8 V10, the engine develops 532 BHP and 540 Nm of torque. Audi claims that the car can sprint from 0 to 100 kph in 3.5 seconds, and attain a top speed of 323 kph. In the R8 V10 Plus, the engine is tuned to produce even more power and torque - 602 BHP and 560 Nm. The claimed 0 to 100 kph and 0 to 200 kph times for the car are 3.2 seconds and 9.9 seconds respectively. The car will reach a top speed of 330 kph. Audi claims that this is the most powerful and fastest production car that it has built.

The R8 V10 has an Audi Space Frame body shell, which weighs only 200 kg. This body shell is about 15% lighter than that of the old R8. At the same time its torsional rigidity has improved by 40%. The car measures 4.42 metres in length, 1.94 metres in width and 1.24 metres in height and has a wheelbase of 2.65 metres. The R8 V10 Plus has a dry weight of 1,454 kg.

The new Audi R8 V10 gets 19-inch wheels with size 245/35 tyres at the front and 295/35 at the rear as standard. 20-inch wheels with size 245/30 tyres at the front and 305/30 at the rear, are available as a part of optional equipment. The car gets LED headlights as standard and laser-guided spot lamps for the high beam as optional.

According to a report by Autocar India, Audi is planning to launch the new R8 V10 in India in the early part of 2016.
