In the Android Auto website (https://www.android.com/intl/en_in/auto/), there is a list of car models that support Android Auto. In that list, 2017 Mahindra XUV5OO is listed with a footnote saying its coming soon. So it looks like indeed there will be a XUV5OO Android Auto model in (hopefully early) 2017. Of course, this may or may not be backward compatible with Scorpio, or even with existing XUV5OO. But there is a chance Mahindra may update existing systems too.

Manan Arora says that it will be! Thanks to him for sharing this via email:

I have a confirmed good news for current XUV500 (Facelift) owners.

An update is coming in 2017, regarding Android-Auto ready infotainment system. This will probably be after 2 months of the official launch of the same. Update would be made available for W8 and W10 models.

It is confirmed news. Dealers would be pushing stocks of the XUV500 before the Android-Auto update at lower prices. Smart customers who know that the car will be getting an update afterwards, can buy at lower prices.

Re: Mahindra's cars to get Android Auto

Mahindra has updated it's Facebook cover picture showing a Scorpio with a new infotainment system with HUD and a passenger dashboard screen. Not sure if this indicates what is on offer, but will be awesome even if just the HUD and the new Android Auto in dash system make their way in the XUVs and Scorpios.

Re: Mahindra's cars to get Android Auto

The "connected car" techonology is one of the big moves M&M is advertising these days.

Looks like it will become a reality sooner than later for most of the popular Mahindra offerings, mainly the XUV500 and the Scorpio.

Thanks for the info GTO. Now, I need a small advice from you. I just booked a W6 AT 2 days ago. Though I could stretch my budget to W10 AT, I didn't want to spend 21 lacs for this vehicle (quality and brand perception). I wanted to save some money on my next car. Delivery expected in Feb 1st week.

However, the long-awaited Android Auto is a must have feature for me. Adding to that, there were a couple of new features also announced a couple of days back. Is there any info if these features come to W6 AT and to all 2017 models? Or will it still take some time?

Else, if it is sure shot confirmed that W8 and W10 models will get an upgrade to Android Auto later, I don't mind changing my booking to W10 AT. Just that after spending 18 or 20 lacs, I should not feel missed out - that too within a couple of weeks gap, right? So now, should I wait for the updated model or change the booking to W10 or go ahead with the current booking?

The dealer is absolutely clueless about these additions, and Mahindra guys are not saying a thing about this. Hence, I'm asking here. I feel so confused. Please help me.
