In light of the extension of the nationwide lockdown, dealer body FADA is planning to approach the Supreme Court to review the BS4 vehicles’ registration deadline.

Why would they need to do this. As far as I read, the 6 day flash sale with 10% sale is applicable whenever the lockdown is removed.

One reason to approach can be the uncertainty on how the lockdown will be lifted. I don't remember where I read this, "AC establishments will not be allowed to open for some more duration after the lockdown is lifted". Pretty much all retail like Dealerships / malls /stores etc will be impacted if this is the case.

Is the Nationwide BS6 Fuel roll out completed? If the fuel at the bunk in Bangalore is BS6, I have not noticed any change at all (in my BS4 vehicles). Be it in petrol or diesel. Was all the hullabaloo all these months more like a Y2K scenario, where nothing untoward happened!

Well, BS6 Petrol in BS4 Petrol vehicle will not be a big issue. But apparently, BS6 diesel in BS4 diesel vehicle will cause damage in the long run.
But there is no hard evidence as - "When a BS6 engine runs on BS4 fuel, it will increase the emissions, decrease fuel economy and might also cause issues in the fuel delivery system. From what appears now, even the industry is split over the same topic. Hyundai is saying that BS6 diesel engines will face some issues running on BS4 fuel. Meanwhile, Kia, which shares engines and platforms with Hyundai, says its BS6-compliant engines, including the1.5-litre diesel, have been extensively tested to run on BS4 fuel."

With the Bharat Stage 6 Emission norms, the diesel emissions are very close to a BS6 petrol emissions running on BS6 fuels. The BS6 fuel is now available nationwide as well. Will the government and / or NGT, then consider to extend the validity of BS6 diesel vehicles to 15 years in Delhi / NCR.

How can we bring up this discussion with the authorities? I hope that SIAM / Automobile lobby is taking up the matter with relevant authorities.

With the deadline for CAFE 2 norms set in 2022-23,

- Tata Motors, Maruti are close to meeting CAFE 2 norms.

- Volvo is the only automaker who is already meeting the CAFE 2 norms. In fact, the Swedish automaker’s CO2 level is 2.8 g/km better than the target.

- Closest to meeting the CAFE 2 norms are BMW, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Audi which need only single digit drop in their respective fleet average CO2 emissions to meet the target

- Some automakers may have to implement hybrid and full electric solutions and make them sale successes in order to meet the target

Maruti Suzuki, the country’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, currently tops the list with the least CO2 footprint of 108.6 g/km for an average kerb weight of 932 kg. Datsun and Renault find themselves in second and third place respectively and they are followed by Tata, Honda, Hyundai and Volkswagen.

I got PUC done for my BS6 Seltos. The numbers are not making any sense.
Has anyone else also done PUC for their BS6 vehicles?

An article published today in Economic Times seems to suggest that diesel vehicles are struggling to meet BS4 norms sooner than expected and will struggle to get pollution certification 7-8 yrs. In their sample, it was found that at average age of 7.5 years or 95,000km the vehicle become non-compliant with BS4 emission norms. Not clear what the sample criterion was e.g. condition, maintenance history, etc.
