Audi has launched the second generation Q7 SUV in India at Rs. 72 Lakhs and Rs. 77.5 Lakhs (ex-Showroom New Delhi and Mumbai) for Premium Plus and Technology Pack variants respectively. Both variants are powered by a 3-litre, V6 TDI diesel engine that puts out 245 BHP and 600 Nm of torque.

This is the second generation of the popular Q7 SUV. The new Q7 has shrunk in size and is smaller in length, width and height compared to the XXL-sized first generation Q7. Most importantly, it's lighter by 325 kgs and has improved dynamics. Surprisingly, the new 3.0 TDI variant now gets the 45 TDI badge. For the earlier generation, the 4.2 TDI got this 45 TDI badge. This means that the lighter new Q7 3.0 TDI is as fast as the old 4.2 TDI. The claimed 0-100 km/h is 7.1 seconds with a top speed of 234 km/h. The fuel efficiency is claimed to be 22% better as well, with an ARAI-certified figure of 14.75 km/l.

The chassis is all-new and the body is made of multi-materials. Audi drive select for regulating power steering, engine management and automatic transmission is standard.

Starts where the GLE-Class ends, and ends where the GL-Class begins. The 6-cylinder Q7 Technology is priced about the same as the 4-cylinder XC90's highest variant.

In terms of styling though, it's a step behind its predecessor. One reason behind the Q7's success was the macho & imposing styling. The XC90 blows it away in the design department. Surprising - this is the only Audi whose styling I don't find appealing.

Man, I wonder how would Henry Ford react to the present day choice of cars and their technologies, Fast speeds, ever growing BHP & exponential electronics usage

Audi (as a brand) seems to be a real success in India over the recent years. Now that I have started taking note, I usually see 1+ Audi's on the road every other day - starting with my morning trip, for dropping my daughters to school! And of-course, I am talking about different registered Audis

None of these cars you have mentioned are available for less than a Crore(Ex-Showroom), even for the base variant without the options.

I just find the design to be a bit too "squarish". Don't like what they have done around the fog lamps either. In a way Audi is losing the sleek touch in its design.

Why Audi has made Q7 like this? The trendsetter of larger than life SUV when it was launched originally.
So can we say this version a "Station Wagon on Steroid???"

given that this is CBU , they have priced decently, from past trend Audi won't reduce prices when they commence CKD later so it will be a good idea to pick one when its new, wish some of these have a Captain type ( 1+1) sitting arrangements for Rear seat some day .

Very interesting to note that the DSG seems to have been dropped in favour of the ZF even for the 3.0l engine. They were using the ZF on the bigger diesels which produced torque in excess of what their DSG's could.
