Cyclone Nivar

Cyclone Nivar will be making landfall today and it's already creating havoc in Chennai. The Chembarambakkam reservoir will be opened today at 12pm and people in low lying areas have been asked to move to safe places.

Re: Chennai Flood Impact: Large number of cars up for online auction at throwaway base prices

I'm already observing the water logging at level of 2015 torrential rains. The cloud burst in last 1.5 hour was quite intense; considering it had rained almost entire last night with electricity being cut in many parts of city. I hope the supply will resume most probably by Friday or so depending upon how severe the landfall occurs.

Oh!! And this is just the beginning

Edit - Just what I had observed is closer to reality!!

I noticed cars being parked on a bridge in a line on the side, in a Tamil news channel. It looked like people parked their cars on higher level to avoid the cars getting submerged in water.

Chennai should dam up all this water for the summer months. NDTV is showing cars lined up on flyovers to avoid flood waters.

Nothing happened here in the city. The cyclone did not pass through Chennai fortunately and went towards Vellore side. Hope the government restores power quickly.

Nothing serious happened like last time, looks like the Nihar still won by fooling Chennai with reminiscence of 2015. The max we witnessed was some 30-40 Kmph (may be 50 Kmph) wind, that's all; and lots of water, but not threatening close to flooding.

We will be moving the situation from Scare City to Scarcity in the forth coming months as all the water has been let out to Bay of Bengal
