The company imported the Kuga SUV from UK to India on 30 December 2015.

According to the import data of Zauba.com, the Kuga has been imported for research and analysis in India. The model in silver colour is powered by 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to manual transmission. The Kuga has been exported from UK and the model with the same engine is available in two states of tune. The 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi in lower state of tune develops 147bhp and 370Nm of torque, while in higher tune, the engine develops 177bhp 400Nm of torque. The SUV is available in 4x4 and 4x2 version with a choice of automatic and manual transmission.

Ford Kuga will be a welcome addition to company's portfolio. But pricing which you have quoted, doesn't seem feasible at all.
Instead Ford could (rather should) build a new SUV based on Figo's platform with loads of goodies on board (as like Creta) and sell it around 15 lakh Rupees.

Right they will judge the people's interest in such car and will decide plan of action for future.

With the supreme court ban on >2L diesel vehicle ban news, I doubt they'll seriously think about this vehicle. To be honest, I neither find this SUV appealing from a looks perspective; have to give it to Creta for the design.

Indeed it's a welcome addition to Ford's portfolio and may be they are targeting the XUV 5OO/Innova territory. Btw, there are rumors of Ford introducing a seven seat MPV too, is it the Kuga or an all new model being worked on?

Regarding the >2L D ban, may be the 2L engine will be named as 1999cc on paper..lol

I think Kuga is bigger than Creta & fits category of Tucson. So this import might either be for 2.0 TDCI testing or they are contemplating to field Kuga in Indian market against upcoming Tucson. Good for us anyway

Ford Kuga is pitted against the Rav4 and CRV in Europe. it's definitely bigger than the Creta. not sure if that is the positioning.

It perfectly fills the gap between ecosport and endeavour. Pricing it between 17-23lakhs to take on the XUV and the dying D-segment sedans in India.

Ford Kuga is known as Ford Escape in the North American market and it competes in the category of Toyota Rav4 , Nissan Rouge, Hyundai Tuscon etc..

There is no way it will be pitted against Creta if they eventually decide to sell it there. It is a size bigger than the Creta.

I wouldn't read too much into this import and would be surprised if Ford is even thinking of launching the Kuga here.

1. It could be purely for testing purposes in the Indian environment.

2. Add some glamour to their Auto Expo stall.

Remember, Ford already has an important SUV coming up in the 20 lakh segment - the Endeavour.

The new Ford Kuga SUV will rival against Hyundai Tucson and Mahindra XUV500 and top end variants of Creta and Renault's Duster.

The Kuga is positioned above EcoSport and it is a direct rival for Hyundai Creta. Ford recently introduced an updated version of Kuga and in some markets Kuga is also known as Escape.

Ford Kuga in international market is powered by 1.5 L TDCi and 2.0 L TDCi diesel engines along with 1.5 L EcoBoost engines. These engines are mated to 6 speed manual and automatic transmission with front wheel drive and all wheel drive option.

It's the Isuzu MU-X, not the Kuga.

The American name for the American SUV is set to come to India no later then November or December 2017 in India. Just before the Auto Expo 2018, where it is assumed Ford can showcase it or reveal the prices after showcasing it to the media in the November-December is also a second possibility.

What has been confirmed though that we are getting the 2.0 Ecoboost motor which will make around 275 BHP of power and 245 Nm of torque. The 2.2 litre diesel from the Endeavour will continue to be sourced as well.

Seems unlikely to me. Ford wouldn't't want to take attention off the newly launched Ecosport at that time, Auto Expo more likely.

Doubt the news about Escape.

It's priced similar to Tiguan and Tucson abroad. So unless it's made in India, the pricing will most likely end up very close to the well established Endeavour.
