Re: Ford India imports Kuga SUV

That power figure of 275 bhp sounds tasty!
Don't think there has ever been a mainstream car with that much power, at least in India.
Though the torque figure of 245 Nm sounds absolutely anaemic in comparison. The actual figure seems to be 380 Nm (Wikipedia).

Seems like it will leave the Endeavour gasping for breath.

It would probably also leave the owner gasping for breath at the fuel station

Kuga nameplate was retired in favour of Escape.

2017 Escape and Ecosport facelift front facia are very similar.

Re: Ford India imports Kuga SUV

The 2.0 EcoBoost is lovely to drive and returned decent FE in the rental Fusion I drove stateside. Would probably suck in b2b Indian traffic, but highway driveability is superb.

It is the SUV family face which Ford is now following. Like Hyundai. Both are similar to Endy and Ranger. Hatchback and sedans have similar front facia.

Re: Ford India imports Kuga SUV

More than SUV, this thing looks like a large S-Cross. Not sure if this car can replicate the success of Ecosport or Endeavour. We haven't seen pricey crossovers doing good here. Even CRV/Santa Fe, two of the best looking crossovers, met with very limited success.

Escape has an excellent road presence. I looks like a mini Endy. Has a sharp design which gives an SUV impression at first sight. It is a size or 2 larger than S-Cross. While S-Cross looks more like a hatchback, Escape looks like a proper SUV.

Re: Ford India imports Kuga SUV

Ford is looking at a Kuga-based SUV for India. To rival Jeep Compass.

Quote:
the new Escape-based SUV will then certainly sit a step lower than the Tuscon, competing against the likes of the Creta and the Jeep Compass across its range
Quote:
This new SUV might be called the Ford Escape as it fits like a glove with the Ecosport and the Endeavour nomenclature. It should ideally measure between 4300mm to 4400mm in length and will be a five-seater

Ford India imports Kuga SUV

Great news, it is time Ford upped the ante. With no D segment car in sight and neither any other small car due in the next 2-3 years, this is the right move. If ford can get a SUV to match the Compass step for step then it would be very interesting. Ford has far more dealers and the aspirational value of the endeavour would drive people to buy the escape.

But I remember reading an extensive article about ford India launches and there was nothing listed new for the next 2 years, so I do not know if this news of Ford Escape is true and if it is so I highly doubt it would be in 2018.

Finally Ford has woken up. This should have been done earlier itself. It's still not too late. Along with the volumes market, It's high time Ford brings in the premium products like Escape and Fusion and chart its own territory. The D-segment is still very nascent and has excellent growth opportunity. Maruti for once simply does not have any presence in that segment. It will royally get smashed with that Vitara. A great opportunity to gain market share, especially in the 15 - 25 Lakhs utility segment. Go Ford!!!

It won't be.

Sources point to a Q3-2020 possibility for a launch of the Kuga-based SUV.

As I revealed yesterday in the Figo Freestyle thread:

The last one will join their ranks by 2020.

Pretty much I heard from someone who is in the know how. I was told Ford is working on a new SUV and this may come out in 2019.
