Hyundai to setup new engine plant

Hyundai has announced plans to setup a new engine plant in TN near Chennai.
The investment would be to the tune of $700 million(!), this is direct, and overall investment including direct and indirect would come to around $1 billion.

I would bet this plant is a step toward extensive localisation of their CRDI engines, and extended the range to small car powerplants.

Hear they are expanding production capacity from 300k to 600k too, with a plan to increase their exports to 50% of production....

@Steer, not only that, India will become the global hub for hyundai small car production. They expect to rake in a good amount of money from exports!
