I was very happy that they launched a sedan in a segment lower than Vento but there is neither a TSi nor a petrol automatic. Do we know if they plan to launch a TSI with DSG in Ameo?

Volkswagen officially releases the Technical Specifications of Ameo- Petrol Variant!

To keep it sub 4 meter, VW shaved off 35 mm from the front of the car, rather precisely from the front bumper!! Now the car has no front end crash protection, the grille, condenser and radiator are waiting for a straight hit from any front end impact. Even the rear doesn't have any bumper protection, the boot lid and deck will act like crumple zones. So any Ameo owner, please try and not crash or get crashed, to prevent expensive repair bills and heartburn..:Frustrati
I wish the government sensibly removes front and rear bumpers from the 4 meter restriction, like the spare wheel. Cars will start coming with proper bumper overhangs and a modicum of low speed protection.

This is not particular about Ameo. Look at the competition. Especially check what is on offer in Aspire!

Volkswagen India clocked pretty steady sales in June this year registering sales of 4022 units as compared to 4039 units sold in the same month last year. The German auto giant stated that the steady sales performance came courtesy of special edition models like the Polo Select and Vento Celeste, apart from the contributions from the standard Polo, Vento, Jetta and Beetle. The company did not share its export details.

Volkswagen is now gearing up to commence deliveries of the recently launched Ameo sub-compact sedan from this month onwards. The Ameo was launched last month at a starting price of Rs. 5.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), but is currently available only with a petrol engine; whereas the diesel and DSG automatic versions are slated to be launched around the festive season. VW sales are expected to see a spike once the Ameo deliveries commence.

Well said, indeed - every mfr. & his cousin wants a slice of the <4m sedan cake. And with our deeply laid-back attitude to all passenger safety matters, this was waiting to happen. The suggestion and implied risk ("please try and not crash or get crashed") in not adhering to it, is timely.

So no Ameos were delivered in June? I'm very curious to see what the initial response from the market is like for this model.

I spotted one Toffee Brown Ameo on the road couple of days back. It just went past quickly. June sales report will give an indication. No news about TDI launch?

I was called by the VW showroom for taking the TD of the petrol. I asked the same (about diesel launch) and they said they have no fixed date yet, but mostly by Aug/Sep/Oct - my guess is the festive season.

Guys, anyone found any info yet on fitting the Ameo RVC to the new Polo/Vento with RCD 330G ?
Please share details if available. I checked with my SA last week here in Pune and they do not have any technical details yet on the Ameo.

Thanks in advance.

Went through it. Write up quality is as expected, below par.
Amaze's iVtec suffers from poor low end torque, it's known. Still, the article says it's good of the line.
Ameo's 1.2 is known to be revv happy with a wide spread torque, though it sounds crude. My friend's Polo 1.2 petrol goes all the way till 160 kmph with full load (Teambhp condemns driving at such high speeds), while the article keeps cribbing about this very same engine. If you don't mind the NVH levels (which I do mind btw), this engine is really good to drive. Power delivery is so much linear that practically I would want it over the iVtec.

Mod Note: Our Ameo Report has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!
