Renault-Nissan Alliance: 3rd position on the July sales chart!

Thanks to Renault Kwid & Datsun Redi Go, Renault - Nissan Alliance displaces Mahindra from 3rd spot.

Quote:
NEW DELHI: Kwid's success has propelled Renault-Nissan alliance to the third spot in Indian domestic sales in July when the Franco-Japan collaboration sold 18,386 units, unseating the Indian utility vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra, which sold 16,337 units of passenger vehicles, excluding Supro LCV.

"Renault-Nissan market share was primarily driven by single model Kwid, which contributed about two-thirds of its July volume as compared to relatively diversified portfolio mix of M&M. Nevertheless, given healthy demand and long waiting period, Kwid's volumes are expected to remain strong in the near term," says Subrata Ray, senior group vice president of ICRA.

Renault sold 9,897 units of Kwid in July against 9,459 units in June

Nissan's recently launched Redi-Go in the same segment has received a major month-on-month spike of 35 per cent, selling 3,940 units in July compared to 2,925 in the previous month.

Renault -Nissan Alliance is on 3rd position on August domestic sales chart too. Kwid with more than 10k units is the dominant player. More cars from Datsun stable will further up the numbers in future.

Re: Renault-Nissan Alliance: 3rd position on the July sales chart!

While appreciable, the point of concern is that most of the numbers are made up by only one model, Kwid. Once, the competition launches onslaught, and it will, with new Eon, Alto, maybe a cheaper Celerio, those numbers are sure to take a hit, just like Duster took a hit with Ecosport and Creta.

What Renault needs is atleast 3-4 models like Hyundai and Mahindra have with constantly good sales. So that even if one gets hit, there are others who can help retain the numbers. Honda is experiencing similar thing with City. Now that City is no longer enjoying leadership position, Honda sales are nothing to write about.

Till that point the number 3 position is temporary.

Agreed!!

Renault is getting many customers into showroom because of Kwid. They should use this opportunity and launch new cars. Even Nissan showrooms look alive post Redi Go launch.
